2) some dolls are very strong, but only become "broken" at specific Fortification tiers (called V0-V6 from the CN servers, with V0 being the base doll with no dupes and V6 being max dupes) Suomi is an excellent example of a really strong support unit who goes from "really good" to "I can carry my team on auto battle against enemies 10 levels higher" with her V1.
3) waifu > meta
4) alongside point 3, individual dolls are **rarely** strong enough on their own to carry you, even the strongest doll in the game (well, coming to the game), Klukai, is "fine" at V0, "great" at V3, and "godly" at V6, still requires support from Mechty and Peritya to reach her full potential.
5) have fun. This game is pretty easy for the most part and you really only need V0R1 (no dupes + unenhanced signature weapon) for any dolls you want to use. Some combos, like QJ + Sharkry require minimum amounts of Dupes to get online but it's nothing you need to try hard for or whale to get.
Edit: 6) this game is **very** F2P friendly with many people on the CN server reporting to have every, or almost every doll in the game (some with multiple dupes) without having spent any money. The only thing you're missing out on as a F2P player are the premium skins.

1. Don't try and level up all your dolls at once. At first it is easy to do, but you will quickly hit a point at which you have to choose which ones to continue leveling up. And because it will cost more and more stuff to level them up, you'll wish you hadn't spent your stuff on dolls you aren't going to be using for a while because they're going to be under-leveled. Eventually you will earn enough stuff to level them all up, but the conductors and cores will get scarce quickly. Focus on maybe 4-5 dolls and get them to max level to allow you to continue completing higher level content for rewards. Then you can circle back and level up the other dolls.
2. There is A LOT of advice on when and how to use your 'pulls' AKA loot boxes. These are the Target Access Permissions and they let you roll for new or duplicate weapons and dolls. As an early player, I would focus on the standard pulls, especially the one with higher drop rates. Don't worry about getting this month's special doll unless you really want that specific doll - there is a new one every month and it will be hard to get enough pulls through free play to get every month's new doll. You'll have too many dolls to level up at first anyway, and it may be better to focus on building your initial bench strength.
3. The standard dolls (outlined in purple) take 1 core to unlock new traits, whereas the elite dolls (outlined in yellow) take 3 cores. As mentioned, cores are hard to come by so the cheapest way to build an initial bench if you aren't planning to spend a lot of money will be to focus on leveling those standard dolls first, perhaps along with 1-2 elite dolls.
4. Collapse pieces can be traded for Target Access Permissions in the shop. This is a good way to buy more pulls without spending money. Collapse pieces can be used to buy more stamina, but because stamina replenishes slowly over time by itself, I would save your collapse pieces and use them to buy more pulls.
5. Make sure to send your dolls out on patrol every day. They will collect materials for you.
6. Join a platoon, even if a random one, so long as its active. You'll get more content to play and more rewards.
7. Do the special event stuff every day. Even if you complete it, you can auto-complete them daily for additional rewards to spend in the event store.
8. There are a lot of free codes for stuff online. Find and use them.
9. If you level up and enhance a weapon with Analysis Blueprints, and then no longer need the weapon because you get a better one, you can salvage it and get all the Analysis Blueprints back.
10. Raising your dolls affinity level with gifts gives them some bonus stats, and you get a small reward. It has a small cost, but I would recommend focusing again on leveling up the affinity of the dolls you use the most first.
11. If you have a little bit of money to spend, and not a lot, consider buying the Voyage Pass - it is this game's battle pass. As you complete tasks daily, it will give you quite a lot of extra rewards for the amount of money spent.
Only by that AFTER you completed it.
That way you get the premium rewards all at ones.
The battle pass is pretty easy to complete. The premium rewards are nice to have now, rather than waiting. Why wait until its completed to get all the stuff at once?
In my experience, Access Keys are given out generously early on, but it does make sense to save it for grinding later on when you have unlocked higher Supply Missions for better drops. For example, why spend 10 Intelligence on Level 1 In-Depth Search giving you 1200 Combat Reports, when you can use the same 10 Intelligence on Level 11 and get a whopping 6000 Combat Reports?
Also in my experience, it seems that there are plenty of opportunities for Cores, enough so to build up a main team of 4, but not enough to generously upgrade every single doll you have. Once you start maxing 6 or more different dolls, you will find yourself in core hell, so choose wisely which dolls you really want to upgrade.
If you are planning not to spend money, being stingy with the Targeted pulls is an absolute must. Also, never use your Collapse Points on Intelligence. Nearly all of your Collapse Points should be going towards Targeted pulls for the Dolls and Weapons you actually want.
Besides these 4, you can basically spend most other resources without fear. As a side note warning, sometimes I feel like Transcription Conductors for nodes is a pain, but with patience you will grind up what you need of these eventually. It's only a matter of time and Intelligence Puzzles available.
On a final note, I'm told that in the endgame Sardis Gold is a rare and valuable resource as everything starts getting expensive. I've only been playing F2P and casually for 2 months, at Commander Level 46, and I have not personally experienced this myself yet. Between direct grinding through Standardizing Sync, and direct generation from the Public Room and Dispatches, I believe Gold can be a manageable grind.
