Well to answer my own question, yes it is.

And when you try to uncap it via other methods the game goes out of synch and has issues.

Never understood the genius of capping a games frame rates, in the meantime ppl wonder whyt heir PC is "apparently lagging", guess what it isn't it is jsut the fps cap.

Yeah true, that is as much as i thought.

But thent he publishers / devs come up with some hogwash about how there is a technical reason right (marketing talk for - we need a lie this is it.)

Unlock FPS:

Edit: nvm, seems glitched :P

Edit 2: Actually, seems to work if you disregard the error messages when booting the game.

The game is capped at 30 because some things (like physics) are easier to program if the time between calculations is the same. If you want to calculate based on a variable frame rate you have to introduce additional math to account for the difference in time between frames. This can have unexpected results and sometimes break the game.

You could consider this lazy programming or efficient programming depending on your point of view.

I tried the fps mod linked here and the higher frame rate breaks some things making them run too fast.

Haha, yeah most of the convos about the game are ancient now. I just vaguely remembered this game exists and grabbed it and it's still fun today.

Wish they would release the source code so we could do a fan remaster with high frame rate, proper mouse support, new levels, and 4k support. Since I doubt they'll ever be interested in doing it. Maybe larger world limits too.

Such a cool game with more potential. From Dust 2 would be even better but hey Ubisoft at least a remaster wouldn't be much investment. Throw together an official level editor and the fans will make all the content for you lul

yeah it is a very cool game, would love seeing a remaster with a level editor

At Nvidia:

Open "NVIDIA Control Panel" (on the taskbar at the bottom right, right-click).

wait

Go to program setting (right side).

wait

Go to "Select a program" and look for "From Dust" and click. If the program was not found, you must uncheck the box (below the bar).

In the area
"2. Set preferences for this program:"
Click "Vertical Sync" and set it to "On".

Close the window and apply this change.

Start the game and it runs smoothly.

This actually works. Thanks for saving me from a headache since 30 fps is unplayable for me. :47_thumb_up:
