Srsly, the original Black and White may not be as pretty, but it's a much better God Game. B&W2 is a City Builder and you can only play as the Greeks. In B&W there are a lot of tribes and a lot of miracles and you can build different villages all across the maps with all sorts of wonders and stuff.
There are less creatures to play with in B&W2 and the way the AI is shaped makes them less interesting to mess around with, so the creature is reduced to basically just being a unit you can make do things and seems less like a virtual pet.
It depends on what you want though, if you want a City Builder B&W2 is the better option, if you wanta God Sim B&W is the better option, they're almost nothing alike other than that a lying sociopathic sleezebag named Peter Molyneux overpromised on both of them.
There's also tons of mods for Black and White 2. I have it, and mine is riddled with mods. There's a lot of skins, and you can even play as different tribes, as well. There's skins for your creatures, and you can add others, as well. Imo, both Black and White games are worth it. I suggest just trying both, see which you like better. That's what I did, and I ended up loving both. XD There's also certain mods where you can fool around with the creature by making it bigger, have more hair, less hair, longer hair, stronger, etc. Oh yeah, and map mods, too, as well as campaign mods. Some people made an unofficial DLC for it. I don't know whether or not they actually ever finished it, though.
