D:SF Steam version on Windows 10 - how is it?
Hi, could anyone tell me, step by step, how the installation of the Steam version of D:SF works on Windows 10, if at all?

I've just managed to successfully install and run D:SF on Win10 so I thought I'd write an installation guide partly as a self-reminder. But the problem is that I own it directly on uplay (now ubisoft connect,) not on Steam, so the actual procedure and file path may very well be different.

This is how it goes on ubisoft connect:

1. The "Download" button will download an old-school installer (straight out of DVD lol) to "[Game installer cache location]/672".

2. The "Install" button launches "Disk1/InstData/setup.exe" which fails due to "Installer UI Mode Error". This can be worked around by setting the said setup.exe in Win7 compatibility mode.

3. I *think* pressing the "Play" button for the first time is supposed to trigger the auto-patch procedure but it does nothing. This can be worked around by manually applying the official v1.04 patch in Win7 compatibility mode.

4. Profit.

Is the Steam version any different? Maybe assets are already unpacked and patched here so that it's not an issue at all?

Thanks in advance for any tip you could provide!

Hey, total longshot so hopefully you see this. I just installed it from Ubisoft Connect but I didn't seem to get anything in my Installers folder at all, it just went and downloaded the 10GB of game. Is this something you ran into? It's a legit key from a CD hard copy.

Good thing I've kept subscribed to this thread ;-)

Anyway it depends on whether your copy is directly on Ubi connect or on Steam.

In the former case the files should be in the folder specified by "Settings" -> "Downloads" -> "Game installer cache location" in ubisoft connect client. It differs from the game installation location (which is applicable to newer games.)

If it's on Steam... I dunno. Maybe in Steam client's download cache folder or game's installation folder? I was hoping someone would clue me in on this. That was what this thread was about ;-)

If you have some system-wide file search tool installed (such as voidtools' "Everything,") it may be quicker to search for an icon file named "Driver.ico". It's in the root folder of installation files.

Yep, Ubi Connect. I have the installers set to go to the default location, but the folder is empty after downloading the game.

I'll look for that icon, I'm just getting a black screen then white screen crash.
