It's true that coins might bring you small benefits and it appears in many places. Although you're not good at coin flips, still you can play and clear the game.
Searching for a method to reduce fatigue of coin game. Or it could be turned into a different game.
Thank you for giving us a precious feedback.
Other than that you get a small bonus, but it's not something that will make the game unplayable (I am not very good at coin flipping myself).
For me it would be better to replace the coin toss for the event you may want to miss by something else and to just put a fully random toss for the rest. Then just add some way to affect the result in your favor (candle+research+some generals traits for exemple). It would also make it faster and improve the speed of the game.
That said, I can understand the OP expereniences a slower paced game, where as I was pretty much always able to get a quick bunch of Pagans or wheat to get something done the same month. Leaving the coin system to RNG doesn't sound fun to me, but replacing it with something else, like the 'guess the cards game' would be a stpe forward.
Im a Game Pass PC player btw.
