Game Crash at startup - Suspect Windows 10 problem.
So. I have been trying from time to time to get the game to work. When I originally bought the game is ran fine. I spent a few hours playing it and was entertained. I downloaded it for my phone and have been playing it happily on it for years now.

But there is something about having a mouse and a much larger screen that has alwayse had me return and try again to get it to work on my pc.

So to the actual problem:
1) I install the game from steam like normal and get the nice icon on my desktop.

2) I start the game (either by double-clicking or using the steam "Start Game" button) and wait... and wait... and wait. Nothing happens.

3.1) I then dig about the files and find a readme. Cool. It tells me the game wants to run in fullscreen mode and i need to add the line "fullscreen" to the launch thingy or use the StarTraders4X Fullscreen.bat file. Neither works.

3.2) Fun side note. The Exe file in the steam folder is named FactionWars.exe not Startraders4X.exe.

4) I then try an just run the only Exe file in the folder (FactionWars.exe) and it tells me:

"C:\\WINDOWS\\SYSTEM32\MSVCP110.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0c000012f"

I will need to close this popup about 4 or 5 times before it stops showing up.
5) I then go an look into the system32 folder to see if I am missing the 110.dll but it is there and there even is a 110_win.dll.

6) Then I realise the error message has \\ twice in the folderpathing. However, I am not aware how to fix that.

I am running 64 bit windows 10 Home with a GeForce GTX 1080 graphicscard.
Though I highly doubt that is the issue. The game is getting old and the forum posts timestamps show this game has been left to history. However, it is a nice game and I really would like to play it again.

Ok, since you get that error, the cause is 100% lack of the prereq. Steam client is supposed to install it for you, but sounds like it didn't, this happens rarely.

Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 x86, specifically had to be x86 version.
