anyone else having issues with turkish players?
i bet people will jump up and call me a racist. but thats not the point. the main point is that communication is very important in this game and a lot of them speak either no english at all (they just write their role and thats it. otherwise they only speak turkish) or very very bad english, barely understandable. also, they very often write turkish in the chat and often pretty much spam the chat with it. i have never seen people writing any other language than english and turkish in this game, so other people seem to realise that chat in international contexts should be kept in english. for some reason, turks often dont care about that.

now, why is that such a problem? multiple reasons.

1. its distracting. sometimes there is so much spam that its hard to see the actual important information
2. it can very well be seen as a form of cheating. why? because you can exchange information without other people knowing what you said. kind of like whispering, except that not even spies and blackmailers can read it.

other issues are that i keep running into incredibly bad players, and in by far most cases, they turn out to be turks.

let me give you an example:

a jailor died and in his will, it said that someone didnt claim a role. the jailor did not execute that person. i critizised that and then got attacked by the jailor and 3 other players. all 4 of them started flaming in turkish after a few english lines.

(and yes, there is a chance to kill a towny when executing people who dont claim roles, but chances are way bigger that its actually a bad guy.)

another example: day 2: dude says jailor should whisper to him (uhm dude, people see who whispers to you, and exposing the jailor so early is idiotic).
people asked him why he d do that. he said he s amne (how is being amne even a reason for that?)
day 3: we all get a message telling us that the amne remembered that he s a consort. of course he got hanged and it turned out: yes, it was him. there was no 2nd amne.

so that idiot tried to expose the jailor, said he s amne and then ended up taking a maf role (while almost no townies were dead).

guess what? he was a turk.

next game: i see a person with the exact same name. he writes publicly "who ıs wıtch?"

turns out he was GF and actually trying to find out who witch was so they can work together. yes, he tried to do that in public. yes, he was that incredibly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.

those are just exaples from the 3 games i played today before closing the games. i could bring up dozens just from the last few days.

why the hell does that happen? do you guys have similar experiences? can we finally ban people for using any non-english chat?...

using a foreign language to communicate is already against the rules. Hit the rules button in game. and you will see in the "do not cheat" portion of it in examples of cheating one specifically called out is "using a foreign language".

Really I think the dev's need to get to making a turkish server for his game. Lots of turks like and play this game apparently, most IMO aren't mean spirited trying to cheat, they just get excited finding a second or 3rd player and want to communicate in their own language. If they get their own servers, everyone is happy I would think.

Yes. I am Turkish person who can use English m8. If u have that kind of person just report them. Also we dont have any Tukish servers that turkish players can play this game. I agree with u. U have right to say that but pls dont be racist. Its not great my friend. We also want to have Turkish servers for this game and also for the others games. Now, the reason of ur problem is there are some streamers in Turkey who play this game and the viewers of these streamers are mainly little kids that who does not know basic English :D I am sorry for u and I wish the Turkish servers will open in the future..

sadly, the report function has stoped working for me about 3 days ago. i just get a blank window when i open it...

some turkish player told me that there are two famous turkish streamers, that apparently attracts a lot of them. and yea, i dont think its mean spirited. but it is a possible way of cheating.

yea i know plenty of turks who speak english just fine. in fact i live together with a turkish student who moved here half a year ago from istanbul. no problem with the turkish population in general. and well, there are no german servers either, i think? or french? or what ever else. but those people manage to keep the chat in english anyway. i dont really understand why turks are different in this matter.

turkish servers would definitly be a huge relief.

You know, honestly, I don't think there should be Turkish servers specifically. Not unless they make servers for a lot of the different countries playing this game.

I mean, not to be a b*tch or anything, but english isn't my native language either, I put a lot of time and effort into being able to speak english in an understable way. So why should there be an exception for people from one single country? I figure it should either be all the countries with a large player-base have their own server, or just having the server the way it is now and just reporting all the people who break the rules. Whether they be Turks or from any other country in the world.

I am not for splitting up the servers. That simply means: The players that seem to be able to keep to the rules the least, get rewarded by their own server. No, reward them with bans instead. Simple as that.

And let's be honest, if you want to get ahead in the world, or even in game, a basic understanding of the english language and being able to apply it in reasonably "normal" online gameplay, is needed. And it's not like people can't learn it. It's more that they don't want to, because their friends understand the language they speak, so they can be d*cks about it and assume the rules don't apply to them.

Let's not reward them. Let's simply let them know that using another language besides english simply does not stand.

Also, even though it should not be said, but still: I have major respect for all the people from all the other countries that do follow the rules and make sure they speak english on the server. I can handle crappy english, at least they're trying.

its not about rewarding them. its about the rest of us not having to deal with it anymore

We plan on adding servers for other languages in the future, but there is a lot more that goes into that than just translating the game. We need to have an employee that can communicate with those players in that language, we have to be able to manage and afford the new servers, and we need to make sure that nothing in game will be inappropriate culture wise. EX: If you want to localize to Chinese you should remove any skeletons in your game.

If the new servers are a ways down the road, then hopefully you are staying on top of the cheat reports.
