Dont push people, follow other peoples votes
Act as a role a tp can see you as. I always pull up the invest wiki page to know what to be
Go for the loud people, mutes and/or people who dont name themself
See how others play. You can get good ideas off them, can see how to point out a evil and what not to do
While it's bad to idly talk you should definitely be putting out your view and seeming like you want to be a part of the townie-process. Make friends with townies and communicate with big figures like the jailor in whispers.
Pushing people is actually a great way to seem like a townie, but do be weary with it.
Strictly staying inside Invest roles is imo boring, but it is good to keep a backup will for this.
Going after people who are controlling the town is definitely a good choice (if you can deduce they won't have a TP on them), however the second two are questionable. Instead push mutes at daytime. This gets everyone off your back and onto the mute's. It's a get-out-of-jail-free card to keep them around.
This person has it. They've basically worded all of what I was gonna say well.
The main thing, I think, is to kinda ditch the meta and have fun with it. I take my town and mafia roles 'seriously' (town roles moreso) but if you're working alone, just enjoy your time. Get into the mindset of a serial killer trying to kill as many people as possible, or a mafia member trying to keep your group safe but together.
The best way to play the game, imho, is to get into the mindset of the role you're playing. And most of the evil roles are just trying to have fun.
You may not win the stats (though I usually do when doing this as maf,) but you do win the /game./
