PASSWORD RESET
If you're getting the message that you need to reset your password, make sure you follow ALL the steps from the following thread: https://www.blankmediagames.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=101015

If that doesn't work, see if you can log in manually (with the login fields, instead of the "login with Steam" button). If this works, it will at least hold you over until the main issue is resolved.

ALSO, if the first solution doesn't work:

E-mail the developers.
Wait for the auto-response which should come immediately.
If the auto-response doesn't come immediately, make sure you whitelisted support@blankmediagames.zendesk.com. Once you've done this, try again.

Once you've received the auto-response, reply to it and provide the following information:

- Username
- Problem
- What you have done to resolve the problem (feel free to link this post if you've tried all this)
- Proof of ownership (purchase receipt from Steam will work fine)

They may or may not ask for additional proof, but if it is needed, they will let you know.

Two things to keep in mind:

1) There is currently a ~2 week backlog and the Devs are on holiday until Jan 2nd. It may take about 2 weeks to get a response, so patience will be required.

2) NEVER provide your password. Developers can't see it to begin with and do not need it to fix your issue.

And for some side-info as to WHY you're getting this message:

You haven't changed your password after the breach of december 2018, despite the e-mail we sent every member to do so and public messages on multiple media (Official forum, Steam, Reddit, Discord, Twitter and Facebook).
When accounts then actively started getting abused, we started banning those accounts to minimize the damage done to them.
But since accounts kept getting compromised and eventually used to cause a plethora of problems for the people who did change their password, the Devs locked all those accounts behind a forced password change, to make sure that the damage done to your account and the damage caused by your account is minimized.

So for the future, I do want to give you all this tip:

Always change your passwords every 6 months for your own internet security and always make sure you check the e-mail inbox for game-related e-mails once a month or so, to make sure you stay up to date in case of important information like breaches.

Thank you for the advice Flavorable. I have followed the steps to requesting a new password. Though it would seem at least for me that logging in manually I get a message requesting I link to my steam account first. Responding Yes, the issue persists preventing me from playing and responding no garners the same result. Essentially meaning I can not play the game at all. I have emailed the devs using the email provided in your post. I hope this can be resolved soon as I know a few new players seem to be experiencing this issue. Though I do not see how or why an issue from december 2018 should be affecting new accounts. I have for my own sanity requested a steam refund after the frustration I hope it doesn't come to that and the issue is resolved and I can cancel the refund request. I must compliment you though as you have been a huge help in responding to posts. Your help is greatly appreciated in the matter.

Adding a +1 to the people who are stuck.

If I try to reset my password, the system says I don't exist. Despite using the exact reset link that was sent to my email. Have never logged in with a username/password. Always through Steam.

Submitted an email as directed.

Was really looking forward to playing ToS today, Looks like we got a few weeks away :/ I do hope this is fixed overall as many of us log in via steam.

Well great, I have no idea what e-mail/username I used when I registered. Been just using the "log in through Steam" :|

Yeah, I have no idea what my actual user name was, I always just logged in with Steam, so none of these solutions will actually work for me.

Okay, so I managed to find my account name in my emails, and I reset my password... but the game still won't let me log in.

So to sum up;
I tried everything to reset my password, checking all credentials.
That said my email doesnt existm meaning I had to mail.
I mail via the website, 3 times, 1 with an email adress not whitelisted, 1 with the same adress whitelisted, 1 with another mail adress from another provider whitelisted. Finnally with an email adress directly to info@blankmediagames.com again, not getting an auto response, before ending up spamming your email Im stopping the email sending, but its rather frustrating.

I understand the trouble on your part as well, but its quite the struggle for me.

(and yes its the correct one, since i already reset my password a few months ago)

edit-i can log into forums and checked the email associated to my account and it was the same one i entered to reset password

Ok.. but I have changed my steam password multiple times this year..? Seems like using a shotgun as a hole punch in terms of trying to sort an issue but what would I know..

So I figured out what my USERNAME and PASSWORD combo is by attempting to log into the game and getting 'Password change required' as opposed to 'Your username or password was invalid' when I type in a wrong password.
I go to the forums with the same information
'You have specified an incorrect username. Please check your username and try again. If you continue to have problems please contact the Board Administrator.'

It's not letting me sign in at all. Says my info isn't right, but I've been just logging in through stream for ages. How frustrating. Why can't they see that we have the game and just let it be? This is really unfortunate that they won't just let you reset the email.
