Translations
Hello

Is there a way to use customs translations? I don't mind using English, but my friends don't understand everything. I saw this post : http://town-of-salem.wikia.com/wiki/String_Table_Localization but I'm not sure if it's up to date or even possible to use in game.

Thank you.

Even if you do translate the game, it's still a multiplayer game centered on chat to drive its gameplay, where people speak english... If it's troubling for your friends to understand UI elements and roles, they can just use the Wiki as information and translate it with google to get the basic idea, but actually playing the game requires understanding english, and there's no community translation for that.

Thank you, but we were thinking of playing only between us, if that's possible (we're enough to make a full town).

I'm not sure so don't quote me on this, but i feel like i saw somewhere that you can make parties of up to 7, not more... So you can't make full town of friends. But someone correct me on this, i don't know...

And I guess you cannot start a game with 7 players? I've only played one game, so I'm not sure if that'd make sense to be 7 in a town.

You can have i think minimum 7 players, but again, i never play custom or parties so someone else will have to fill in that information. I had games where there were less than 15 people but how much, i forgot.

If we can play with 7 players, I'm back at my first question then, thanks for the info :).

You can create a custom game though and fill it up fully with your friends if i'm not wrong, right?

yes, since they are 7 people together and 7 is the minimum number of people required to start a game
i know this because whenever i'm host i like to mash the start button before 7 people have joined and it gives a message saying you need 7 people

Bear in mind, when you play with other people, you're still subject to rules and regulations of the game. If someone gets put on a stand and doesn't defend themselves either becuase they don't speak english or they write something in another language, it's considered gamethrowing and you can be reported for that. The same applies to role sharing, sharing info, and purposefully playing to help your party friends instead of your faction in game. Just because you're in a party doesn't mean that's allowed.

You cannot by any means create a private game.
If you start fast, I guess you could create a "private game" per se? Or if you're 15.

My initial plan was to play only between us, so "other people" wouldn't be a case.

Seems like it's a bit more complicated than I thought. But I saw a video where 15 players play together in a group, so I guess it's possible.

Well you said you have enough friends for a full game. Why don't you try it? Invite them all into a party and create a lobby in a custom game or join a lobby. No one here seems to have a definitive answer, and you can pretty much check what's possible yourself.

They don't all own the game, I'm waiting for an answer on the localization part before telling them anything ^^.

Oh... Ok. If you had this idea a month ago, they could have tried it for free, but ToS became buy to play since then.
