You can't compare classical composers to something modern like MLP. Just no.
That said, as someone who has a degree in music & studied composition, I got giddy when my friend from this fandom showed me the song revolving around a deceptive cadence (V-VI chord plus it's about Cadance being deceptive? (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻). I don't like MLP, no. I do appreciate some of the compositions though, definitely a good example for the intended age group.
You should probably stop trolling the bronies considering they can watch whatever they want, regardless of age and gender. That's what happens when you're an adult. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Of course, its impossible to compare the two with any level of objectivity, because they wrote in different times and the music itself is completely different. When i did the comparison I was just thinking of the amount of quality songs written, not the level of quality of the written songs, because that would be very hard to argue. But if im I may simplify things a bit, Ingram has written a vast amount of songs that are so high quality that it created a huge fanbase for a show outside of its demographic(along with good writing and such).
So im not trying to disrespect motzart or do a musical analysis, I was just saying the amount and quality of ingrams work is astounding, and has attracted a lot of attention. Of course, the amount of attention doesn't automatically determine the quality of the song, you could have amazing songs that attract no attention(like what happened to motzart).
At any rate, which song was it that had the 'deceptive cadence'? I really like the songs, but always shy away from analyzing them too much, because I think it detracts from the enjoyment to do that, I am very curious now!
It's called "This Day." It's an Aria which is sort of like a solo opera. You watch MLP so you're obviously aware of the story behind this scene, but what makes it cool is it's a deceptive cadence which is another word for a V-VI chord progression. It's deceptive because when you listen to a piece of music and hear a dominant chord (V) you expect it to resolve to the tonic (I), but is this case, it goes to the superdominant (VI).
So in a way, they assume it's the real Princess Cadance but the chord progression (and lyrics) suggests it's a deception.
hahaha WOW, thanks for sharing that. This really sheds new light on the song and uncovers a reference i didn't even know about. Maybe musical analysis isn't so bad after all! A deceptive cadence about Cadence decieving poeple. That is cool!
I usually just enjoy listening to the music, but it seems a lot of modern composers make the analysis interesting for me. That's probably the best example you'll get out of MLP. I had to google it to figure out the name but this one was very cute as well.

Acapella piece, ironic lyrics coming from Fluttershy. It's also cute because it's about performance anxiety which is something I always dealt with as a musician. Seeing as it's a cartoon geared towards a younger audience, they hit the nail on the head in a lot of categories other shows lack.
>Relates music to porn.
I'm sorry you're so insecure in yourself that you have to attack others. It must be hard to function on a day to day basis.
If music analysis triggers you this much I suggest you unsubscribe to this discussion and go have a cold shower to calm down.
The ones I linked were composed by actual adults for a children's television series. Composers who have received nominations.
If you're talking about the ones trademark2 linked then that's your own personal taste. I don't care for them but obviously someone on this thread does.
Telling them it sucks isn't going to magically make them stop liking a fandom.
Just like telling you you're an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ isn't going to suddenly make you a better person. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh no someone with Rick Harrison as a profile picture told me to kill myself!
When you have a degree and international fame from music composition, get back to me. Obviously Daniel is doing something right to receive this much credit.
Again, you wouldn't understand the analysis anyway to make a logical point about what makes it "good" or "bad" regardless.
