Investigator is a common Witch claim.

Also the most obvious one. People will see that you "investigated" them the same night they were controlled.

It is the most obvious one which is why I said it was a common claim.

But who said anything about putting them in your will the day you witched them, you can change it up a little. Witch someone N1? Say you investigated them N3. Don't put just the people you witched. Put a dead person in there in replacement of someone who got witched. Experienced players can easily see you're the witch but you can fly under the radar of a few others. Although it wont last very long.

I know, but the town still usually sees right through that claim, and will lynch you regardless, especially if an investigator counter claims. So even if it does work, as you said it won't last very long and you need to find mafia or NK asap and make a deal with them.

Another thing you can try and claiming Survivor, Day 1. I don't know if it works in Ranked or Classic, but in Coven Any/All, if you claim Survivor Day 1, most people usually leave you alone the first say days. Giving you time to find the Mafia and make contact.

I used to claim invest as witched back when I still played normal ToS. I just jumbled my visits a little when posting my will and sometimes put in 1 or 2 dead people instead.

Some, yes. I however, specifically target people who claim on Day 1 for 2 reasons.

1. A lot of them are liars
2. I don't like that strategy to winning as a survivor. I am more likely to believe someone who claims it later.

So, you could try that, just be aware there are people like me around. :)

That's so backwards lol. Every late survivor claim is a werewolf or any NK. Besides, what are you going to prove by attacking a d1 survivor claim. They're gonna be immune because they vested and if they are evil they'll just claim vested anyway.

I didn't say I target them at night. I usually lead a charge to get them lynched. Also, no, I would say about 3/4 of the late game surv claims I see really are survivors, because most NKs have learned to not claim survivor, it rarely works.

Anyway, like I said, I don't like that strategy, it feels cheap. Like they are expecting to win just because they are survivor and they don't want to work for it.

For reference, I am playing Coven, so it generally has more experienced people.

What has owning coven jave to do with anything? I own coven too. Besides. Claiming survivor d1 is actually working for it because you have to back your claim with your actions too and know when to vest and when not to because of NKs messing you up.

Besides, being passive is the nature of the role and just because you don't like it doesn't mean they're not playing it right.

This. This right here, is what I hate.

SOME of them are liars, true. But it easily takes a CL, Witch, Consig, Sheriff, or Invest lookin at them to find out if they are lying or not! It's literally THAT simple, and yet people actively refuse!

But no, it's the second one that is the problem. You say you don't like it, however it's pretty much become Community standard that if you do not claim day 1, and try to claim it afterwords, you WILL be hanged, no exception.

I have played 420+ games, and have never seen a situation where a Survivor claims later, and doesn't get hanged, EXCEPT when the Majority is Mafia and know there isn't an NK. But even then, that's still very rare.

Because if you're a surviver, you have nothing to lose claiming day 1, but if you hide it, that means you have a REASON to hide. Survivors don't have one, but any NK DOES have a reason to hide.

It has literally become community standard to ♥♥♥♥ over Survivors. It is 100% pure luck of Mafia/Cov/NK not killing you, and Townies no hanging you for any reason, with the biggest being for both actions: That you will not vote with me.

I do actually usually give survivors the benefit of the doubt if they claim later. Like I said, for me, about 3/4 of the late game survivor claims are legit, because most NKs know by now to not claim survivor, since it rarely works.

I do that because I am well aware that survivors get the short end of the stick. I also NEVER claim survivor if I am not a survivor because I don't want to contribute to survivors being known as liars with my own lie.
