Please nerf the Transporter
I've been playing ToS on and off for at least the past two years, and if there's one role that's clearly more powerful than the others, it's the Transporter. Doesn't matter if it's a Coven game or not, the Transporter is King. He can, and will, screw up EVERYTHING for EVERYONE else whenever he gets himself involved.

I just came from a Coven game where TWO Transporters led to three people being killed by a Medusa on N1, and two more being killed by Mafia later on. They still couldn't prevent the lucky Mafia from winning, but it made it clear to all in that game that Transporters are far from "being all right".

So I propose a nerf to the Transporter, in the form of (at least) one of the following rule changes being implemented:

# A Transporter counts as a Unique role, meaning there's only ever one Transporter in a game.

# A Transporter can't do anything on N1, like the Vigilante. This helps curb the overenthusiastic Transporters and might even teach them to think a bit before transing people all over the place.

And while we're on the subject of rule changes to Town rules, might I suggest one for the Retributionist? Have every player that's Town get a notification straight away on D1 that tells them that there's a Retributionist among them, when there is one. Something like "You sense a divine presence nearby. Someone in the town is a Retributionist!" That way they're less inclined to quit the game when they're killed, and the Retributionist has a greater chance of being useful. Note that this role doesn't reveal WHO the Retributionist is, just that there is one present.

No, because then mediums could find out.

Also transporters are far from overpowered- yes, they mess everything up for maf/coven, but they also mess everything up for town.

I'd be on board with the Transporter being unique. Games with 2 or more transporters are utter and complete chaos and any strategy or logical deduction goes down the drain at that point which ironically hurts town more than it does evil roles. I mean, i like chaos and it's fun, but yea, maybe 1 Transporter is enough.

I don't know how i feel about the second one. There's nothing wrong with transporting people N1, helps with a lot of things so manybe not that.

And as Coronatus said, retri message only when you die if the Ret is present.

To be honest, I think transporter should remain as is but be changed to a chaos type. Though it would be taking away from a town pool of jobs, and I have no idea other than "survive to the end" for a victory condition they should get.

Interesting alternative, but my suggestion is mainly put forth to curb the number of quitters. Many of the quitters do so the moment they're killed, and thus are likely to miss out on the Retri notification, especially since everyone is killed at the end of the night and the chat "resets" a few moments later.

The D1 announcement will reach more players, even though I know that there are also quitters that ragequit immediately on D1 because they didn't get the role they wanted. A D1 announcement can also be used as a point of deception for both Town and non-Town roles, so that's another angle to consider.

I mentioned that already, Transporters mess up everything for everyone. That they can do this freely, every night, is why they're overpowered. Hence my suggestions.

No, oh god no. He is fine as is. Chaos is for roles that are super unfair, like vamps, and roles that are 100% luck based, like pirate. And survive till the end? He would just trans himself with others all game.

Unless... he can only transport a limited number of times.

That's another idea on how to address the Transporter: He can only transport three times in total, just like how the Vig only has three bullets. This makes the Transporter a powerful asset which must be used wisely, instead of being a giant middle finger aimed at every other player in the game.
Granted I kinda agree with you in the fact that transporter should become unique because...I mean having multiple trans (especially when they random trans) makes the game more confusing, especially with TI's. Though making them not doing anything N1 is fairly pointless as they won't exactly do much to affect the game than later on. Making the trans unique will (in my honest opinion) will make him very balanced.

Also I agree with wtc7200's point on the retributionist part as straight away, you are making the game harder for evils's to win as they know someone will likely end up being revived so you can't really use the dead for help (i.e. say you rb'd them when you didn't) and straight away two role claims are gone (that being retri ofc and medium) as the person who is revived can confirm any mediums. It's exactly the same as when mafia used to be able to know if there is a spy alive who is listening to their night chat....and that didn't last very long did it for a good reason ;)

Short answer : Yes to trans becoming unique, no to everything else!
