Steam refund?
I bought the game on steam to support the games devs because i had logged a large amount of time on the game and the town points were an added bonus, however due to how poorly the game is running and screwing with cpu/memory usage on steam instead of in browser, with a refund could there be any potential consequences

They don't do refunds and wait a bit more, there's a unity port coming soon.

They do refunds, the only way to get a refund on steam to begin with is going through the support menu with less than 2 hours played and 14 days from purchase (they make exceptions to that rule) but im generally asking because i'd like to know if there any potential issues in going after a refund after having activated said town points, as that might look the wrong way if the devs have enough time to look into things like this

Yes, that's steam policy but BMG do not do refunds i think. Precisely because of the town points issue. If you want a refund, you'll have to email the developer to see what they say, i'm not sure the normal steam refund will help you there, or that you even can refund it. I know you can't refund Coven, i think you can't refund normal ToS either.

Anyway. Unity port will come soon for free, and that won't run poorly. ToS now runs poorly because that's the limitation of Flash or wherever it's programmed in.

So, either wait a bit for the port, or ask BMG directly for a refund.

I've been informed by a refunder recently that they do in fact do refunds, and you keep the town points and Steambot Skin. It is exploitable, though, so I will be taking this fact up with the Dev.

So do i just hold off or?

If you wanna refund, then go ahead, really. I'll leave this thread around for if anything changes. They can't hold you responsible for a flaw in their own system, afaik.

Don't see why you can't just keep it, and just use the Browser Version still. The 'Steam' version is only needed for Coven, and buying it just rewards town points, skins, and passive bonus to MP, which you can still use on the Browser version.

This. You got your money's worth anyway. No reason not to keep it.

And yeah that steam thing is totally abusable, they need to fix that but it's not up to the players so...

That's why most large companies like blizzard and even Steam threaten people who chargeback with account bans. ToS could adopt a similar policy and "close" the person's account if a refund is issued.

Between the game itself and the lifetime double coins earned I found ToS to be worth the price of a Hamburger.

You can actually use the browser version to play coven, after buying it on steam. Assuming you connect your steam account to your browser account.

Alright, so, I contacted one of the Devs about this and they told me the following:

For now, they are aware of the exploitable issue where people keep their TP, Skin and double merit points. There is a chance they might remove the Skin and the Double MP bonus in the future for people who do have an account linked to Steam, but don't own the game on Steam (anymore). And of course, they will be monitoring for abuse of the current situation, so as long as you don't buy and then refund multiple times, you shouldn't get in trouble for refunding.

As a second option, I could also see if I can help you to get the game running better, but that's up to you. :)

This is because the game recently went completely pay-to-play. People don't get banned for it, but they do get locked out of their account until they re-purchase the game. And let's be fair, it's only fair considering you still got the perks without paying for them.
