They only show up in all any and custom gamemodes. I never liked their addition to the game honestly either, and ever since that one Any slot was removed, they never made an appearence. I would not be opposed if Vamp and VH were to go.

There are people like me who only play all any and see this role everyday

I used to love them, up till the 200 hour mark.

Now, I have double the wins on Vamp that I do any other role and I hate Vamps with a passion.

Personally, I don't think the current game mechanics work with a converting class.

So you are saying that they
suck?

No, I'm saying Vamp is fun up till a certain point, but then it just gets boring, since it's too easy to play as. Not to mention it encourages gamethrowing, since any confirmed townie can become vamp, so why bother?

Don't try to put words in my mouth.

I was talking to the topic starter but anyway
I think the Vampire is another ''scrub destroyer'' role where you can steamroll non competent players.
When it comes to facing against smart players, vampires can die pretty fast when the vampire hunter or veteran or a mafia member are aware of the ''blood drinkers'' and try to focus them
Vandalay Oct 12, 2017 @ 2:22pm
Personally I think they just need their own game mode, I hate vamps about as much as anyone can hate vamps. I am thrilled to see them removed from ranked, and I really don't get the appeal of all any myself. But from what I see, people who like vamps, REALLY like vamps, and people who hate vamps, really hate vamps. Custom games also seem to almost universally have vamps, because that's where people who like the vampire game go, and that prevents people who want to make custom games that don't involve vamps, from having good custom games, as well as people who like all any etc...

My personal thought, make a role list that attempts to be balanced for a vamp game, make at least 1 VH and at least 2 vamps on that list, make it it's own mode. Then make it so that by default, vamps cannot spawn in all/any. Custom would of course still allow vamps, but an always a vamp game mode, would draw most of the plays custom to make vampire games players away, leading to more diversity in custom lists.

It's pretty much down to what roles are in the game. VH is flat out overpowered if vamps are the biggest worry you have in a game. A single vamp could die simply due to bad luck very early on. If they happen to walk into a VH, or just hit mafia or NK a few days in a row (thus not make his numbers grow).

It's also massively OP if a VH doesn't roll, and nobody even learns that there are vampires until half the game is over.

Oh no they don't suck. They are actually too strong.

I really like the idea, but the problem is it wouldn't be "All Any" if some roles are banned from the mode

I would be fine with All Any not having vampires. I am in the "Absolutely despise vampires as a conversion role" camp.
Vamps have never ever bothered me, so never understood the hate. They're not even that strong, especially with 1 man starts and VHs which are fairly OP at what they do.

Here's a guide to understand why some people hate them.

Personally in a raw power concept, they are all over the charts depending on the roles in the game, and blind luck.

many people hate vamps (myself included), on the basis that they pretty much turn gamethrowing, skilled play = higher chances of winning etc... on it's head.

As a townie, did you work your pillion off, secure a solid victory for town Great job... oh wait, the vamps bit you right after you finished dooming them, you made town win... but you lose with the side you spent every action you had dooming.

Were you an entirely useless townie, ignored everything, didn't vote... town is going down the drain and doomed, sucks to be you town loses... oh wait, you got bit on the final night, you haven't done a single action that has benefited a team you were on all game, but you win!

Then of course that's before throwing in gamethrowing has no meaning. In short, playing well as town both raises vampires chances of losing, and raises your chance of being a target for them. How do you really play to maximize the odds of winning, when your end goal could change at any moment.

To add to what Vandalay said, I did a custom game with some friends one time and most of them didn't really see the issue with vamps. There were vampires in the game as well as a VH. So, to illustrate my point (I was medium). When the VH was voted up and revealed on the stand, I voted guilty, assuming that he WAS telling the truth and really was VH, and my vote was the one that caused him to be hung. So, did I gamethrow? You would think so, except, I counted on getting bit and a couple nights later, I did. So, suddenly, me hanging the VH as a town was the best thing I could do for my team to win, even though I wasn't on that team when I did it.

After that game, most of them saw my problem with vampires.
