Where are the taunts?
Taunts were released about a month ago. For some reason taunts are not used in the game anymore. Why is that?

You need gold coins to buy them.

yup this... they are a cash shop (or luck of the couldran) one time use item. The novelty of using them wore off after about a week I'd say.

The others have explained why you don't really see them anymore, but once we rotate the Taunts into both Town Points and Merit Points, we will probably see them again.

As for how to get Town Points (the gold coins), you can see this thread which explains a few of the different ways to get Town Points;

Yeah, the one time use thing was a mistake, I think. If it had been town points for a taunt that you could use unlimited times, I would have bought a couple, but since its not, not many people buy them.

I am also concerned about the unintentional additional play option it adds for people like a sheriff. For example, the sheriff dies the same night they investigate a mafia, but they put in their will, "If I die, I will put a (insert taunt) on the last person I investigated if they are mafia). I could be mistaken, maybe you can't taunt if you are dead, but if you can, I feel this is an issue.

I think the will examples are rather silly... and pretty stupid uses. I picked up a few taunts, just for that purpose (not to use them in that form, but to counter them in that form). If I'm mafia, and I kill a sheriff with a will like that, and his last investigation was not mafia. I'll throw a taunt up right at the start of discussion phase at the person. Nobody can tell who sends a taunt, and if the meaning is public domain, anyone can mess with it.

If you want to worry about possible abuses, you need to give examples where the meaning isn't public domain. You could note some risk if something is co-ordinated in whispers, jail chat or mafia chat. But public wills... you might as well be a medium taking advice from a dead godfather.

this is the problem. at the moment, unless you spend real money, you cannot counter that and are at a disadvantage. as ive said in many, many threads, that's pay2win, and it's terrible.

The fact that anyone MIGHT have done so, is enough to render the strategy stupid. If any of the mafia, the witch, the NK, the jester, heck even the surv saw that same will... or even a townie (nobody's going to report, because nobody knows who did it). As a result even if you are accused from that, and it is legitimate... you can point out that the mafia read the same darn will and is just as likely to have made the taunt as the dead sheriff. Trusting that will is like trusting a "X is immune" kill note... sure maybe it's telling you the truth, but it's every bit as likely that it is a troll attempt to get a townie lynched.

It doesn't have to backfire in your game... if people are dumb enough to utilize this strategy more often, they will see it backfire more often than it works, and thus they won't do it.

IMO that's probably why I haven't really seen it done outside of the first week of taunts.
