I think I'm fair in that I'm criticizing the game and suspecting the actual development team left 6+ months ago, but at the same time helping people who have problems with only the silly UI.
I mean, there's no need for them to give up on the game so early, based only on poor design choices which produced really obscure interface. Let them pass those obstacles and see the full picture, no? ;)
I just want to note Doug gets very butt-hurt when he doesn't get lot of praise. This is the same guy who refuses to accept the truth about Boombots being a failure (an abysmal 3d fighting game before Armikrog). Critics were much meaner with Boombots than they were with Armikrog and Neverhood (GameSpot almost gave Boombots the "Worst Game of the Year" award).
He's an artist and a creator, not a gamer. How many games, that he's never worked on, has he ever talked about as being good or bad or even said he's played? I think he's just involved because it allows him to be creative in a way he doesn't get to do with his normal work; like Michael Jordan trying to play pro baseball or golf.
Doug bashed video games a couple of times only to get ridiculed/called out when Boombots flopped, and Skullmonkeys kinda tanked (IGN called him out on that in its Boombots review).
Dropsy is 7 bucks. Telltale games go for $15 or less. Deponia has been practically free. We don't need another game like Armikrog. Nine out of ten adventure games are better and cheaper.
I really wish I could get my money back, and I'm probably never going to support a game on kickstarter again. Good ideas don't mean anything if the execution is this bad.
I'd like to say that I fully support another game like Armikrog never happening. The game's lovely animation was basically made by scamming young animators by offering them to work on the game in exchange for adding the thing to their portfolio, and the game's primary artist is a notoriously awful human being who spends most of his time throwing temper tantrums and telling people to kill themselves.
In a world where there are dozens of actually good adventure games, there is no need for something like Armikrog to exist. Maybe if it was about sixteen times better than it currently is, but we all know even a hundred patches won't fix bad puzzles and awful audio quality.
Doug* is a pretentious prick, but he's not that bad (I mean, he did bash the LBGT community, but did he really tell someone to commit suicide?).
*You are talking about Doug Tennaple, right?
Yeah, I am.
Doug TenNapel has a very long-running reputation for behaving like a bag of ♥♥♥♥♥ at conventions, and he's infamous for descending into crazed rants about how people he disagrees with should just kill themselves to make the world a better place whenever he's allowed anywhere near the microphone.
I don't really mind that. Plenty of great artists have been insufferable maniacs. Wagner, Lovecraft, Dan Harmon I guess... it kinda comes with the territory. If we kept crazy jerks from making art, we'd be out of ideas in a month.
The fact that the game shipped broken is another story, and probably had little to do with Doug.
Any sources on Doug being a ♥♥♥♥ at conventions, doing stuff like this? The guy's hardcore with Christianity, but I can't see him being a douche bag to at a con. He will spazz and try to "professionally" belittle you if you tell him his games after Earthworm Jim/The Neverhood are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ though.
I can't think of one good thing that came from any webcomic artist. 98% of the webcomics out there are all trash unless it's the Perry Bible Fellowship or Tails Gets Trolled (Don't give me recommendation on ♥♥♥♥♥♥ webcomics because I'm not going to read them).
Can't think of one good thing that came from any webcomic artist....
....you need to either read more, or speak less.
I'll just cherry pick the easiest one - the Child's Play charity was started by webcomic guys. It's raised millions per year for a while now to help out kids who have extended hospital stays. Check it out, it's a great cause doing extremely worthwhile stuff.
I can name a bunch more stuff, but since you're just kind of spewing out worthless opinion (your opinion is obviously and woefully uninformed), I figure one is all your mind can handle at a time.
