That is one of the worst portions of the game, imho, both in terms of design and technical bugs. You might have to revert, sorry to say... The puzzle resets itself later, maybe try going back a ways down the track and see if that resets it?
I see you tried that.... I'm sorry man, you might just have to revert. I could see if I could drudge up a save file for you?
As luck would have it, I have a save file right at that location, because it looks like it didn't save when I went further. Good.
Oh, I can help a bit:
if the OSX version is as bugged as the steam version, at least you can just walk through the door at the 2nd tower without solving the sliding tile puzzle, which might save a minute or two. Also, If you use beak beak to push the button at the end of the long flying cave, go back up and wait under that pipe where the fuzzy thing was to get a faster car, which saves a few seconds. That's all I can think of to help speed this up.
I swear if it gets stuck again, I'm done.
Not being able to properly solve that Beak Beak puzzle makes trial and error insanely hard. I shouldn't have to resort to 2 different FAQs and combine the solution to only get 2 of the 3 dials, leaving the 3rd to brute force. I muscled through because I missed Neverhood but any new player might just give up and never come back. I wouldn't blame them.
Also, I'm pretty surprised that it's a pretty short game.
