Originally they were planning on Neverhood 2. (Watch the interviews - that was actually the plan if claymation adventures caught on).
Their plan B was Armikrog 2.
Then something happened, they delayed the game by a year and still haven't fixed bugs reported in Beta Forums in March.
Makes me think they simply decided this is the end... and the same people won't come "crowdfunding" for money in another decade.
But it's nothing that can't be learned from this experience and applied in later games.
All that universe and feel that made the Neverhood unique it's still here, the problem it's on the game design which is the very base of a game, and thus it makes the whole thing feel flawed.
More attention to details, less repetition, and you are ready to go.
edit: Neverhood 3, because Skullmonkeys ; ) Just a re-release of Neverhood and a port of Skullmonkeys would make me happy, i would settle with little.
(I also bought "HD" remake of Another World and it was 100x more awesome than the pennies it costs. Take notes, Doug)
