An Xbox 360 controller works juuust fine with relatively less hassle to set one up. I also recommend going wireless controller + receiver so you can connect up to 4 controllers on your PC for your gaming needs in the future. If you're going that route and having trouble finding drivers then here's the link:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-ca/d/xbox-360-wireless-controller-for-windows
As for your request in particular can try the following config file:

Tips to use that configuration are included in the zip.
For your second issue:
Pay attention to the cursor, a semi-transparent white hoop around your target. That is the direction where most of your attacks will go. Sometimes you'll have difficulty attacking how and where you like, I understand. Why can't it be like Dynasty Warriors? Well no, it's just how this game works and I had to learn.
To unleash an unblockable attack after knowing how targeting works, just hold the keys (left stick on gamepads) in the opposite direction of your target and press any attack button. Could also help if you hold the Defend key/button so the camera centers on your target so it's easier to press down/flick down in the opposite direction. There can be almost-none to a brief delay between presses for this attack to work.
So meanwhile, consider getting a controller.
the rest you can toy around with to suit to your own needs.
its real easy there is not a single game you have to play with controller on pc....
not even emulators ;)
