So, you are forced to strip male characters in this game?
From watching some reviews, as far as I can tell, this game forces you to strip male characters, and there is no way to play the game and also avoid doing that.

Is that accurate?

If so, then I don't see any logic behind that design decision, and it seems extremely counter-productive to the goal of gaining high sales for the game.

That is just going heavily to disincentivize all heterosexual male gamers from wanting to buy or play this game, since stripping males is gross to heterosexual males.

I have no doubt this game would have sold a lot more copies if it didn't have that gross crap in it.

Not a sex game. Graphics are cell shaded. No visible wobbly bits.

Maybe you should try being less insecure and singular minded.

It's called "gender equality", you strip one, you strip them all xD
But yeah like the person above, not a sex game.

Yep, that's right (technically you can also keep hitting a piece of clothing while it's at 0 HP to destroy it though). This isn't a hentai game though, so I doubt that really matters at all to most people. The stripping moves themselves aren't really even sexualized either (except maybe like one?). If they were, then maybe your point would be more worth thinking about.

Regardless of whether or not this is a bait post, it's unfortunately funny to see stuff like this pop up… "How dare they also include a little bit of something for everyone!"

By the way, you can also play as a female character model when starting a new game/new game+, or even crossdress (except underwear) once you complete a certain mission. Stripping main bosses, including the male ones, also gives you a CG of them with their clothes having just been shredded down to just their underwear. It doesn't seem like your sensibilities can handle a light-hearted game with even a small level of fan service equality in it, so you probably definitely want to stay away from this one.

Anyway, would it have sold better if it was a super sexualized "strip all the ladies!" game? Who knows, maybe. A setup like that seems better off as a hentai or almost-hentai game though, which again, this game is not. I'm not sure what the use is in bringing this stuff up in these forums (especially of a non-Early Access game) rather than as direct feedback to the devs though.

As for an actual serious suggestion for an alternative game you might like based on what you've said, the Gal Gun series seems right up your alley.

Heterosexual male here, I have no problem with it. As the others have mentioned, it's not a sex game, and as such the stripping part is played for humour instead of eroticism.

I'm not buying the argument that "it's not a sex game."

It may not be a full-blown sex game, but it is nevertheless highly sexually suggestive, as proven by its title itself and also the main artwork which is used to sell it. So that does make it into a "sex game," even if it's a very softcore one.

As for "gender equality," I'm all-for that in general, however, that kind of concept is not applicable to a game like this, since that's a different matter entirely to the issue of the fact that stripping male characters is gross to heterosexual males and therefore a sales-repelling design decision.

And they could always have solved any supposed "gender equality" issues by simply not making any of the enemies in the game be males (just like none of the characters are males in the Neptunia games, for a similar example).

Instead, they created a totally incongruent product with this Akiba's Strip game, which is:

a) on the one hand, supposed to be titillating to heterosexual males

yet also

b) on the other hand, repugnant to heterosexual males because it includes gross forced male-character-stripping gameplay

Given those factors, then it's no wonder why this game never reached legendary status and became insanely popular. But possibly it could have, if they had removed the gross &incongruent parts out of it and instead designed a cohesive product that could appeal to all heterosexual male gamers.

So your entire argument is that you find the content sexual, therefore it's a sex game. Despite the fact that the act isn't sexual and in fact part of combat, for a game about vampires that die when they're exposed to the sun their clothes are blocking. In reality you're stating that you're upset that the game isn't sexual enough for you because you want to rip off girl's clothes.

You're the one making it sexual. You're the one complaining that you have a problem with it based on your sexual orientation and that you find this erotic. That's the long and the short of it.

No one's forcing you to do anything, since playing the game is optional.

Dragon, this is perhaps your worst attempt to get attention ever.

I can't stop shacking my head... Gabby brings it to the point. It is all right with this game.

This game is a satire of otaku culture and the stripping attacks are there for comedic purpose. I'm straight and I've played this game since it's release on the Vita. This game isn't meant to be erotic. I seriously don't get your point when you say you are all for the "gender equality" of this game and then complain that you can do the same to male characters.
Noobanaga Jan 20, 2021 @ 6:53pm
You fight vampires. these vampires fizzle when exposed to the sun. Stripping a vampire of their clothes exposes them to the sun.

Oh wow SJW in my Akiba's Trip game

The point is simple, he's pretty upset that playing a game with semi-nude cartoon males would be seen as homosexual by his peers, this is pretty common for teenagers...

I hope he's a teenager, as no real adult is that terrified about their sexuality being challenged by semi-nude cartoon characters!

No, you completely missed the point.
He's trolling and caught more people than he should with such obvious bait.

Wearing band-aids is still clothed so you are just removing extra layers of clothes.

Sadly this is Dragon. We gave up thinking he was a troll years ago. He likes to come into XSEED threads with weird, completely off the wall complaints and the scary part is he seems to actually believe what he says every time.

It's more fun if you strip yourself before playing it
