Medieval engineers will be a game centered around being creative and building. Look at it like minecraft without the "rpg" elements and combat.
LIF will be more like, building for the purpose of interacting with other people.
There's a major difference right there.

If you like building and engineering this is well worth getting, the structual physics are great, need tinkering a bit still but we've had two updates already, Keen are very good no doubt about it.
And since we don't have survival yet you can't really compare it to LIF as in it's current state it's more like creative mode in Space Engineers/Minecraft. This game is a must buy in my book and I already did :D
