Whatever weapons you can make!

They said that they wouldn't have any weapons to start just a hammer thing that u see on the guys back in the vids ( I think you can use that hammer), but they said that they could add weapons very easily by changing the values of the hammer and the texture. They also said that if people really want weapons they would add them.

I would like bows or crossbows that you could fire on the enemy

+1
As Nils said, nothing to start with. But i really do think there should be weapons at a later date. I am not into PVP, but i think this would be a fun game to PVP in. But just having seige engines would not be as fun.

I haven't see any weapons shown other than what can be built and launch the ball shaped projectiles.

I am hoping for some form of archery and sword fighting as both were quite prevalent in the era

Yeah thats the thing. Medieval times conjure images of swordplay and archery. For it not to be in the game would be dissapointing.

Can`t be that hard to make a few sword types(one handen and two handed) and a bow and a crossbow. Maybe a pike. The fighting controls can be like in Chivalry Medieval Warfare, using the mouse wheel. If the animation isn`t as good its not that important, just have the option to fight and attack / defend in PVE and PVP.

Add in a simple bow and sword, but give the modding community the ability to mod in weapons, too.

Yes thats a good idea. Then the devs can focus on other things. Devs have to implement fighting animation of course.
I don't think we should have bows; archery would take to long for the engineer to take up, using time that could rather be spent engineering.
I'd suggest a crossbow. It's much easier to tell someone to point and pull a trigger than it is to aim, notch, draw, and shoot properly.

As for a sword, a simple dagger or arming sword would do.

Others could be easily modded in.

Personally I think having bows and xbows would be fine. No one said that the engineer would have to be a British Longbowman with 100% accuracy at 9000 yards. I am not very good at archery, but hey anyone can get the very basics in a few hours. If our poor little engineer is a terrible shot, well thats fine, have the crossbows for more accuracy, make them more expensive, ect. This is a game after all. A dagger and swords are definately a must. Basic weapons. and yes the modding community should be taken full advantage of and Im sure would add in weapons regardless.

They say, it will less weapons and more engeneering focus

I'm kind of hoping that we can make boiling cauldrons above our gates that we can dump on people. Crafting volatile medieval grenades from stuff like..sulfur or gunpowder would be cool, even making like a timed charge with a trail of gunpowder.
