Cable Cart
Is it possible to build a cable cart? Im not talking about a rail cart that uses cables to go back and forth. So far I cannot get it to work cause the ropes will not stretch farther then where they were placed.

Yes, this is possible. But very difficult for building:

" Im not talking about a rail cart that uses cables to go back and forth" xD

I actually watched that video, I follow both LSG and SAGE on SE and ME. Im talking about something like that, except no rail for it to ride on. As in connect a rope to a spot on the cart, and another on the other side to create a lifted railcar that can be used to transport stuff from low ground to high ground, but dosnt need a wooden rail to work, so you could in theory make it really long, change spots around the map without being limited to the rail.

So far it doesnt seem a working concept lol

I tried my hand at making a cable car, as far as I can tell it should work, but it just wobbles all over the place , and I can't get the car to move.

Yea thats the problem, if you try attaching a rope on both side and then try to reel it in, the other side dosnt want to let go and breaks if you keep trying

Maybe you are already aware of this, but you have to connect both ropes at their greatest lengths. have the car at one end and connect it to the drum at the other end. Then reel it to the other side (you'd probably need to drag it across the ground) and connect it to the opposite drum. Then both ropes will be at their maximum lengths.

You can also press "K" on the rope drums and (I think) adjust the length of the rope. I haven't messed with that function but maybe it will help.

Good luck.

I figured that out last night while I was working on it, however Im thinking of really long distances and it wasnt working out very well xD

I also figured that it wouldnt work out to well though cause if you did do that, it would create too much slack to be able to keep the cable cart in the air.

What we really need would be to have the option to set a maximum and minimum tension of the ropes so that when you start to go from point A to point B it will add more rope on one side, and take rope from the other side in order to stay in that range.

Or another idea could be the rope endings. Make one that you can hook up 2 ropes to make a connection that would let the object go back and forth on the rope without changing the tension.
Hope I was able to explain it, I have a hard time explaining stuff I envision in my head ;D
