Farming? is it bugged?
Planted a bag of flax. Came back later maybe 1-2 hours. Flax was gone ground was infertile stage. Repeated the process same result.
Is this bugged or some harsh joke that i must sit and watch my crops grow?

I put a bug report on your portal i did a clean install making sure no residual files or mods where used straight vanilla test run for the last 1

Same issue happening to me.
After 2 mins crops disappear but not the herbs.
My garden is inside the house but plants still disappear.
I play with the water in ME mod but that has NOTHING to do with crops.

I feel your pain yas0032,

but please calm down. I am trying to help you guys here but there is a TONS of work ahead of me. Am just trying to save the time so I can go through all the stuff. By simply asking if its still happening -> if its vanilla -> and if they are really disappearing in this short time I saved the time of going through all the pages reading them one by one.
So I hope I clarified this to you and now am going to reproduce your issue.

Thanks for the info PÁRKÁNY,

Going to look at it now.

Standing in the middle of the farm while watching the plants grow.
After they are fully grown I will continue observing them.
If they will not disappear in a minute or two, I will fly away from it to unload the world chunking.
Then I will come back, if its still there then its not a bug but you need to build a fences around your field, coz deers are HUNGRY!

TL;DR

In short words, guys, Tux was absolutely correct - deer are eating your crops, this is updated AI feature (they also steamrolls berries in forests, but they like flax, wheat and cabbages more)

So, build your fences, protect your crops :D

Probably we should mention that somewhere, probably in farming quest

Well, those deers really must be very, very, very, ..., hungry.
I created a pretty big field and it's completely surrounded by a fence, so no chance for any animal to get close to my crops. I planted a variety of crops: flax, wheat, cabbage and herbs. I whatched them growing and did some other work meanwhile (building, cutting trees and stuff), but I remained close to the field so I still could watch what's going on. I noticed the cabbage to be fully grown, herbs close to fully grown. So I decided to wait for the herbs, I stood right beside the field.
There was NO deer, not even a small one. After a couple of minutes, all cabbage completely disappeared in just a few seconds. No deer in range of view, nothing.
So I guess there are at least two possible causes:
a) deers are very hungry and besides of that we seem to have some mysterious ghost-deers in the game, which would be a pretty exciting new feature :P
b) it's a bug - plain and simple.

Would be very nice, if you could have a closer look at it, thank you.

Edit: same happened to wheat and flax: once fully grown, they disappear after just a few minutes.
And if it's really deers eating all my crop: I planted quite a lot, it's absolutely impossible to consume that much just in seconds. If so, and if it's not a bug, it needs some balancing.

Thanks for the info Capuzzi09,

I did a test and I was surprised coz cabbage disappeared despite me standing in the middle of the small field.
Will check whats going on with cabbage and flax
But the rest seems to be working fine.
Here is a short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o47JPuImT38

I should add, that wheat and flax didn't disappear completely. Some was gone, some remained on the field. Since the field is completely surrounded by fences it's a miracle for me.
Nice video, thank you for your time. Did you notice that one bunch of wheat in your vid disappeared AFTER the deer ran away?
k Feb 18, 2019 @ 4:05am
Yes I noticed it. But you can see at 0:18 deer on the left in eating animation. Before the whole animation is played deer is scared and ran away. I am assuming he was eating that wheat but I will show it to the programmer when he has a time.

I have never ever seen that many deer closely clumped when I play, even when I have a planted farm nearby.

I am curious, were they spawned in by console expressly to have them eat those crops? Or did that many naturally congregate on their own to come and eat the crops?

Also, assuming most with this issue have played Medieval Engineers in the past, why are they suddenly seeing unusual crop behavior, instead of being familiar with huge fields of crops vanishing?

Funny part is this is what i been stating i might have missed my small portion of a farm was enclosed but somewhere maybe on your fing portal i said "right in front of your eyes" as i watched it happened. even said it was "Vanilla" as in no mods. you mght as well called me a "Liar" straightup

AND I KEEP SAYING "FLAX"

They naturally went for the best meals around.
I just crouched in the middle of the field, let the plants grow and continued working on different computer.
Then I remembered oh the crops should be grown now! But I was bit late they already ate some of em.
Now reproducing the issue because programmer spot some weird stuff going on in the video.

Yeah, I've seen that. Really cute. :)
Very nice new feature, deer eating your crops, I like it very much. But there is still the question why the crop disappears without any deer in sight so I assume this is not completely working as intended. ;)

And speaking of deer: I noticed a new behaviour of them since 0.7: they usually run away if you move towards them. But now a few of them flee as usual but a lot of them stay calmed und you can run towards them and kill them with sword or axe. This promises to be a lot of meat in my oven. :) So I guess that's also not completely how it should be, right?

Cute indeed. But it looks bit scary to me aswell - especially the begining of the video how you can see like these deers give no sh!t about you coz they are going for food :-D

imagine - you play animation of deer eating on crop. Crop will be removed after the deer animation of eating is finished. But I scared the deer in the middle of the animation. But since the deer started eating the wheat already the game waited the time for finishing the eating animation and then removed that wheat.
Thats what I am assuming. But second point - why it ate that on that long distance.
Something is wrong there.
