They are not ready for planet yet.
Drat... Thanks anyway.
A good moment video :

Ideally, I'd just like to be able to be a lord of a castle with a town of bots to fiddle around and work the land for me... Filthy peasants...
.. too much BOTs may slow down the game tho, we'll see what they can do when completed.
Demands leads to innovations... Believing you are drawn within the confines of a box only limits how far you can reach.
I'm sure if they don't do it, someone else will. ME2 perhaps.
My best case scenario: build a town and castle, fill it with AI villagers that i can interact with, give jobs to, protect and force into a levy, have a simple economy of resource collecting and farming by the AI (and me a bit should i want). On the ME engine ideally for massive customization and physics.
It SHOULD be, i would think. Just hope that it can happen before the game gets outdated. That's a fear i have for the early access games taking too much time.
But I heared once in a course about AI (not how to program Ai but what to expect from AI, what it can deliver and where the problems are) that there are difficulties in path finding.
So some of the videos abot bots in ME were not surrising. But it should be possible for a horse and carriage to repeat the way you show and for a bot (porter?) to unload the carriage into a container (lod staples...),
the job of the woodchuck and miner would you do yourself.
I would order dog, horse and two bots (just for the beginning, you know: I got a whole planet...)
It should be pretty straight forward for a bot to be able to calculate a path and be aware of when it gets stuck or has the potential to get stuck. Obviously it wouldn't be a blind man walking with a stick who may fall into a pit, they'd have awareness of their surroundings. Perhaps more than a player, but not acting on all the info. Thus, it shouldn't be too hard to fathom AI that can path fairly well.
