Roofing
For the life of me I cannot figure out wtf they were thinking when they coded how things place in this game. I'm trying to build a roof. I finally managed to get slanted roof bits on top of the walls rather than on their sides (good going devs), but the peak refuses to span the gap between two inward slants to complete the roof. Instead they want to snap over the existing wall, giving me a roof on top of my roof and leaving a gap.

What is the BS little 'trick' one has to use to finese these pieces into place?

Hi, share a Steam screenshot or the world on the Workshop and I will try to fix.

screenshots uploaded. Also put the world on the workshop. After some fiddling I did manage to get one segment to snap-in on the roof, but it was red and wouldn't build. Seems that if the placing distance was double or tripled then this would be a bit easier. Most of the time the avatar is standing in the placing area, invalidating the block placement.

We can move the block in hand by using Ctrl+Mouse wheel = the block will not be in the way.

Giggles, that's what building scaffolding is all about... it lets you get to the height you need to properly line up and place your roof tiles. Other than a few gripes about not being able to perfectly mate all of the complex roofs I like to build, the roofing system works fine in this game. The key is to make sure you've got the right line-of-sight to line them up.

Furbal is right, scaffolding helps a lot.

At first I made a ladder but now I just add stairs and walk on walls.

Hint that works for me all the time. Build a roof from the roof. Climb up on to the top of the wall that your trying to put a roof on (you can walk on the edge of a wall top) get one piece of roof snaped a middle piece is easyer than the corners. Then climb onto the first section of roof you have. You will find it easyer to snap from then on. Build the roof on the roof. I know not the best explanation I spent weeks trying to find the sweet spot for laying roofs and it all got easier when I climbed onto the first piece I snaped. Dont forget that you sometimes have to use the {shift} or the {z} key to toggle the position of the roof section so it lines up were you want it.
