Total n00b - How to open building tools screen?

Everyone is gonna love/hate this absolutely n00b question. I just bought this game the other day and apart from my RAM issue which I will upgrade shortly, I liked what I've experienced so far. Here comes the good part. I have watched plenty of vids and read plenty of articles including the wiki. No where have I seen or heard explains how to open up the house building tool. All the vids just open it an no ones say "press x to open the building tools screen". They just open it and go about their business. So all I can do so far is roam around, cut down trees and collect various items along with research the basic items.

I'm sure the answer is right in my face and I will feel equally as stupid for not catching it, but I am so frustrated by this whole thing, I think it has blinded me to the obvious answer.

Hi, in creative all blocks are available in the '' G '' menu.

In survival we have to follow to Tuto quests > Hit '' J '' to open Quests book, tho the Tuto will start auto when angry > need food < just ffollow the Tuto in top left corner.

Hi, you can use I for inventory. That is your small block personal menu. G is the main building create menu. Also in any game you can go to options and go to controls key commands and they will tell you what buttons to use.

I guess I hit everything but G.

The tutorials quests are cool, but none of them say "press x" either. It's telling me to build a platform (iirc) and tells me what items I need to make it, but no where does it say how to open the screen to get to said platform.

I'm at work and can't test it now, but I will when I get home. Thanks for the help.
