Reseach Quest: Smithing – Metal ingot?
The research quest ”Smithing” tells me to dig in a area for ore and then create a “metal ingot” at a smelter.

When I do this I only found copper ore and I was able to create a copper ingot, but strangely this doesn’t count as a metal ingot.

I tried to find some iron ore, but after running around my spawning area looking without luck for quit some timeI I gave up. Do I have to dig deeper for iron ore or should copper ingots count as a “metal ingot”?

I have read those threads and is exploring is cool! But I became confused when the games tell me to make a "metal ingot" and the place marked on the map by the quest doesnt make the quest go forward.

But I'll start exploring then :)

There is just 2 ores per Biomes, I think...

tho if there is a problem with a quest = we can follow the Devs Guide in the bug report section to know what to share and they will fix the bug :fix:

That's weird. Copper should count as a metal ingot. I barely remember my startup but I too was placed near a large deposit of copper and I don't remember any issues. If for some reason you do need to find iron, travel to the mid latitudes (Karst type biomes) and mountain areas. Iron can be easily found there. Look for reddish patches of grass and stone. Pieces of iron ore are usually scattered around on the ground. Typically Copper and Tin are found in the same areas, gold and silver are found together (Look in the desert, around the grassy patches, usually near hilly areas) Iron seems to be on its own.

did you actually put in in your inventory?
have you tried reconnecting?

I tried to reconnect and put them in my inventory and now it works! So, either it just needed I break or I am an idiot for not putting it in my inventory, even though I really thought I tried that haha.

Any way it works now! Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it! I will go look for iron also near the mid latitudes like you said, for better tools.

Heh... you're not an idiot. I can't even recall the number of times I've crafted something and then left forgetting to put it into my inventory.

haha thanks! Glad I am not the only one to make that mistake then. Just glad it wasn't a bug or that I had to look everywhere for iron! haha
