FIX: Game doesn't launch/Sign-up could not be completed - BitDefender Related

If you get stuck when the game launch (game doesn't respond) and after a while you get sign-up could not be completed AND you use BitDefender Total Security 2015:

- add an exception on the BitDefender Total Security 2015 Firewall to the file \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\Win32\host\CoherentUI_Host.exe

To do that, you need to access BD > firewall > rules > add news rules. Select the file and add the rules to all the networks (recommended).

If you are still getting problems, a new exception need to be added to \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Updater\Updater.exe

UPDATE (26/06/2015):
You need to manually paste this link on bitdefender firewall, since it's not an exe:

\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\XIGNCODE\client\xxd-0.xem

Remember to complete the path with the disc, program files, etc (example: D:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\XIGNCODE\client\xxd-0.xem).

This file is the anti-cheat "exe". With my previous fix the game crashed me after some point. Since I added this file to the firewall, everything run smoothly and without any problems.

If it still doesn't work, try to add an exception on the AV (Go protection > Antivirus > Exceptions) to the folder of Dirty Bomb and all the executables inside it (all of them are mentioned above).

Yesterday I fked up my Dirty Bomb by changing the screenresolution to 16:9 1280x720... and I got after that with ne next Start only a Black Screen (no vga signal) and nothing did fix it.

reinstall = fail
graphic card driver reinstall = fail
changing download section = fail
no firewall / no anti vire = fail

but then it hits me and I found this folder:
C:\Users\!!YOUR USERNAME!!\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config

the place were the game configs are saved... and this folder won't be deleted if you uninstall "Dirty Bomb" over steam... so I deleted him by my self and BOOOOM fixed the game

no firewall / no anti vire = fail

well in your case disabling firewall and AV doesn't work, but in my (our) case it actually work, so its not a config problem but yes a problem with av <> game/anticheat.

I wouldn't call it a Bit Defender issue but an issue gameside ... or better with XIGNCODE. I never ran into a problem with Bit Defender and any other game before, which was more then "add a firewall exception for the game.exe".

And seriously, I won't close my AV/firewall for ANY application to run properly. Especially with such a fishy anti-cheat tool like this game is running.

UPDATE: So, I browsed the bord a bit, looking for similar threads. Many one-timers started. Put the link to this thread in all of them. Maybe we can gather all up in this one thread, so we can actually work together and maybe the devs will notice ...

I've sometimes check the forum to see if there are any people with problems related to this one in order to promote this topic a bit more and yes see if the devs notice it and post this solution on a sticky post OR even better: fix what causing bitdefender to claim that it is malware. And yes I agree with you, this is the first game I have any problems with related to AV

I've never had any problems with any games and anti virus wise, so this is fishy, but I prefer to have my anti virus on and not run the game until this is fixed, I just wanted to see if the game works at all xD so yes our best thing is not to turn our AV & FW for this game to run, and make them fix their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anti cheat system thingy

If you are still having problems. Found a rather easy fix over at the DB forum that finally worked for me.

When you are running BitDefender uncheck the following:

In "Antivirus" uncheck both checks for Scan and Active Virus Control.

To the same with the Firewall.

Also make sure your Windows Firewall isn't running.

Then verify the game cache. Steam should download a missing file, which is so small it only shows 0 bytes.

Start the game and after signing in, just reenable AV and Firewall. This must only be done the first time you sign in. After that you can run BitDefender as usual.

There is a slight chance, the missing file will get corrupted again and the sign in error will reappear. If so, do the same again.

AFAIK this file is a missing file from the anti-cheat tool the game is using, which BitDefender doesn't let it do its job of verifying some ♥♥♥♥. :)

I never had to verify any files, but each time they update the game, I have to do this exact process.

It worked for me before for like an hour. After that the game froze and I had the same problems again

I added firewall rule for ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe and CoherentUI_Host.exe and it randomly sometimes works sometimes not. When I disable Bitdefender firewall it always works. Like one day it works good but next day again stuck in game startup black screen. So I don't know wtf Bitdefender doing.
