[FIXED in 209.36] Known issue: Pet DLC not loading on MacOS
First, make sure you have mods enabled, because it's implemented as an official mod and managed through the mod management screen. Also make sure to verify your steam files.

If it still doesn't work, it looks like some people are having trouble getting the pets DLC to work on macOS, we're investigating, but in the meantime copying the "PetsPack1" folder from:

{Install folder}/coq_data/streaming assets/DLC/

to

~/Library/Application Support/com.FreeholdGames.CavesOfQud/Mods/

will resolve the issue for you locally.

E: 12-10-2024

This should now be resolved in 209.36; you can remove the extra copy of pets from mods, but it shouldn't hurt anything in the short term if theres two copies. (Though the mods one will win if we later update the pet pack files for bug fixes)

It would also be useful to get a player.log from you if you're experiencing the issue to support@freeholdgames.com

#Edit
Your workaround worked but you pasted the wrong string for the Mods folder.
The correct one is
~/Library/Application Support/com.FreeholdGames.CavesOfQud/Mods/

#Post
Issue persists.
Tried reinstalling game, verifying installation and deactivating and reactivating DLC.

Finally created a character with a pet on PC and loaded the cloud save on Mac.
It gave me the warning that a mod from this safe is not active but loaded the per bear into the game. The warning message is since then gone.

Sent you my logs.

The post with the "Application\ Support" line is command line grammar. Spaces are shown as "\ "

Sorry for the annoyance. I'll try to get this fixed up tomorrow.

com.FreeholdGames.CavesOfQud folder does not exist. I tried creating it and the Mods folder and putting the PetsPack1 folder inside it. Still nothing shows in the Mods screen of the main menu and the DLC is not functioning.

There is also no Freehold Games folder inside ~/Library/Logs

This is a Steam install on a Macbook Air M2 (2023) running Macos Sonomar 14

I have tried verifying files. I have tried un-installing/re-installing completely. Nothing works.

It seems like something is wrong here. Is Qud executing as a different user somehow? If you've run the game and created a save or set options or anything there should be an ~\Application Support folder for sure.

also, make sure mods are enabled in your options.

Ok, I figured the issue out. The com.FreeholdGames.CavesOfQud folder is hidden!

I had to go into Terminal first and change directory to ~/Library/Application Support/com.FreeholdGames.CavesOfQud and then type 'open Mods' to open the Mods folder in Finder. I was then able to paste the PetsPack1 folder. The DLC is now working.
