i think it's 3 possible endings apart from going with Barathrum:
- form a new covenant with resheph
- accept his plan (kill all life)
- rebuke his plan and fight/kill him
Also important for the ending/victory you're getting is whether you killed all Girsh Nephilim back in Qud before the final battle. If you did, any ending you chose will count as a Greater Victory and you get a special achievement for it.
Also, how many nephilim are there in the game? I managed to bag three.
BTW, never learning that Reseph had been enacting an evil masterplan befitting a Bond villain sure made the amoeba epilogue confusing.
There's 6 nephilim before the final fight at Omonporch. If you got all 6 before that, you'll get a unique 7th one during that fight. That one's no joke.
You learn about Reshephs plans if you listen to all the dialogue with Barathrum while ascending the spindle.
The third Grish I killed was the one at Omnoporch, so I guess it arrives regardless of how many others you get beforehand.
Out of curiosity, did you just not talk to him at all, or did you just end the conversation early? IIRC he began the conversation automatically with me, but I did find it funny that the devs would see fit to add several "can we not do this right now" end-points to allow players to skip or prematurely end the single most expository dialogue in the entire game.
The battle at Omonporch is always interrupted by the arrival of a single Girsh Nephilim. If any of the six that it is possible to find during regular play are still alive and unpacified, one of them will be chosen at random. But if you have already killed or pacified all six prior to joining the battle, you will instead face the seventh Nephilim, Ehalcodon.
