Where to find dream beards?

I need 6 dream beard glands for our robot overlords but can not seem to find any

Do you need to find the small ones or the elder ones? They are in the jungle / deep jungle, but finding 6 of the glands is not a great task. They do not have 100% drop chance for corpses.

in my current run, i have to find 5 mazebeard glands. .i assume those ones use confusion breath. not even sure it's worth it.
my reward is "great reknown", which is not bad, last time i did one of,those, i got 800 rep with a faction, but i think it's random.

a fun one i got was "bring me 5 boulders", humping them back 1 at a time and leaving them in a pile.

I saw a video someone did one and the reward was 77xp. .

Is the type of breath beard seeded or am I just really unlucky? Was trying to farm deep jungle for some and found about 5 packs of the acid breathe ones only, none of the type I need

You can get items, attribute/mutation points, skills points or reputation. You never only get XP.

There are many things they can ask for that are totally not worth it.

That sounds rather unlucky. I am not aware of any seeding that only allows one kind to spawn. I definitely had runs with multiple different ones. You don't get a ton of them mixed per screen though.

Did they change that recently? ENHANCED PROWESS used to be gaining attribute/mutation points. The wiki even still has that in its table:

well, the video is 2 months old. if the game just released 1.0 a couple weeks ago, maybe that's an earlier version? he might not be showing us the entire story there.
i'm not sure what kind of character he's playing.
sorry for hijacking the thread. . it's just that you called me out on my comment and i started to doubt what i actually saw, but i knew that video existed. .
i mean, i guess it's completely random. people in the comments claiming to have gotten 6 attribute points, while others claiming to have gotten short bows, while others got top tier weapons. i dunno.


as for the OP's question. I saw lots of mazebeards and dreambeards in the eastern part of the map, just going through random ruins and lairs and stuff.

Please keep in mind that a short is not really evidence for how the game works. E.g. people on reddit shared screenshots with popups of hookas giving you cancer or vine creatures having a looked description with a reference to naughty stuff.

In this case it likely comes from the poster having a modded game and is maybe neither a mutant (selects attribute points or mutation points) nor True Kin (selects attribute points) and someone added an extra reward for those .. or changed the reward for some other reason. In vanilla, you should never get any experience points from a Baetyl quest.

That has all the possible rewards in there and there are 2 entries for ENHANCED PROWESS: one for mutants only and one for everyone and neither of them grants experience. What you see in the video has been modded in (though there is an unused experience reward in the code already).


ENHANCED PROWESS might the best reward they can offer, since it is a permanent character boost, but many sacrifices are still pretty ridiculous and probably not worth getting for that quest. 6 specific glands area already quite a bit imo. I never really grinded the deep jungle, but my trips through there usually granted a few different glands and not really a lot of a single type. That they do not have a 100% drop chance makes it a lot worse.
