How to know you're ready for golgotha?
So I've heard the horror stories of the place...

And I'm not sure when's a good time to go there. So I'm over-preparing, but not sure how best to.

I've got a level 19 mutant Gunslinger with Force bubble, managed to snag some crysteel armor and a dagger from a teleport that took me into the Deadlands (recoiled out as soon as I saw one of those "UFO" things).

So, when do I know I stand a chance in there, and if not, what other stuff can I do to prepare? I found a money generator (Primordial Soup I can access by Recoiler), but I don't have access to any really good shops or Tinkers so I don't know what I could buy with it.

It sounds like you are already much overprepared in gear for Golgotha, but the dungeon is not solely about how hard you can hit. The Force bubble definitely helps a lot (depending on cooldown and duration) and so does you being a Gunslinger (which I assume means you have decent guns too?), but you can still surprised there a bit. How much spoiler advise to you want?

are the most recent threads about this that I had in mind. General advice is to not panic and make yourself some safe area instantly after the drop and when that is clear, wait a bit and reg before you proceed and check if new enemies are brought by belt. Keep your force bubble cd ready for when you really need it (you can just recoil out of that place before the duration runs out if your recoiler is not rusted) and do not try to melee everything there with that dagger.

Golgotha also has 4 different paths and you do not know before jumping on which path you land. If you do not like your path, you can force bubble + recoil out of it and take another path. Avoid stepping into deep gross liquids.

Oh? I'm already good on gear? Okay phew, good to know.

Eh... I think I'm good on guns, but I'm not sure.

I have a semi-auto pistol and I got some kind of Arc Wielder type thingy I haven't tried out yet, but is probably good?

Well, I guess I don't want extra spoilers then. I already think I know that there's Some kind of disease down there because of what the NPC under Grit Gate said. Looks like I'm trying a run on the place after work tonight.

Edit: Oh? I'm supposed to jump down one of the holes? I was afraid that would just dump me down too long of a drop and kill me. My plan was to use Burrowing Claws or a grenade or something to crack open the front door.

Golgotha is tier 3, so carbide gear is expected stuff there. Crysteel is tier 6. AV alone wont help you though.

I would suggest trying out the arc winder before you use it in a high pressure situation, but if you can get a second semi-automatic pistols that might be better for now (I hope you also have decent agility and some pistol skills). Your force bubble is one of the best things for the dungeon to be honest. Just keep the duration in mind and that you can recoil as long as it's up.

The main there there is really to stop a bit and make a plan shortly after the drop. Check out what the surroundings do and work with them. Looking at some enemies can also give you some hints what you might expect from them or the area. It is the first dungeon that introduces more special stuff than mere hitting and shooting (or well.. the rust wells might be the first).

I wish I could get a second. XD I'm relying on random drops, because the very few gunslingers/tinkers I have access to have very poor inventories.

I've invested in pistol skills yeah.

Do you have a gunslinger trader in Stiltgrounds? Those usually stock them easily and frankly Mafeo also does pretty often. Arc winders are really really good, but are a bit more special than sending a slug flying, which might work against you. If you can get used to their specifics before entering Golgotha, they can kill stuff pretty quickly, but most enemies there have next to no AV, so PV based weapons are good there. Definitely keep the arc winder for the entrance of the next dungeon. They are one of the best ways to kill some stuff there and just super good weapons in general.

Two of them. But I've never seen them stock anything worth buying. :(

Just muskets, revolvers, and one Isshari rifle, when I don't use rifles.

Welp, run on golgotha's being delayed. XD Something just "forcibly replaced" my crysteel armor (dropping my AV by 4), and getting the book I need to fix that looks like it might be a hell of a journey to acquire lol.

But hey, at least I have two Scoped Semi-auto pistols now.

If you armour is still decent otherwise it can be okay. Depending on which one of the infections you've got, you can also get some use out of it, but I guess it was not Glowcrust if you say armor dropped by 4.

No, it's Fickle Gill. On my chest. Which normally wouldn't be so bad, but I had that Crysteel armor there. 7 Defense there, down to 3, that's -4 armor. :(

I need to go find that book to find out what the cure is now. XD

Ah you had a flawless crysteel shardmail, not a regular crysteel shardmail. That was even tier 7 and not tier 6. I hope you do not have 3 AV total, since that would definitely be very low at that point in the game. 3 AV on body slot is pretty okay for tier 3 though.

I have an AV of 10 right now, 14 with that Crysteel mail.

Also, to my relief, the town that sells the book with all the cures is not as far away as I expected. :D

10 AV is rather high for Golgotha. With 14 there would be hardly anything that could do reasonable damage with normal attacks to you. AV should not be the thing why you die there, regardless of the flawless crysteel shardmail or not. But if you want to be safer you can of course cure that. You probably want to do that at some point anyway.

The town is pretty easy to reach yeah. It is just some jungle danger like the path to Golgotha. Getting the ingredients could take more walking though, depending on what they are.

I heard enough horror stories that I wanted to be prepared. XD

Got lucky with the cure ingredients, got cured, went into Golgotha.

I now know why everyone speaks the name Chute Crab with either fear, or copious profanity. There are just. So. MANY. :o

Since you have force bubble, you can always choose another path with the recoiler

Huh. So some research tells me that there's only one path where you encounter those things? That's good to know, I think I'm going to do that. XD

The advice I've seen is "don't treat it like a dungeon. Treat it like a heist mission". I wish they'd given that advice in-game lol.

Edit: Nevermind! I got lucky! I used my burrowing claws to get into a wall, and make a little nest... And then managed to punch through to where the next slide was.

Made short work of the boss too! :D

And now, I'm back home safe in JoppaaAAAAAAAAAAUGH! I have multiple diseases even with lots of natural remedies to boost immunity. Time to make extra sure I'm curing those before something real bad happens. XD

Edit 2: Eyyy! I overdid the medicine and I'm no longer sick, PHEW. ...Now I want my "I survived Golgotha and I all I got was this t-shirt" t-shirt.
