I cannot finish the watervine quest
I´ve tried with two different characters, but when I find a spidery creature the game doesn´t recognize it as the vermin. Does anybody had the same problem?

It is not about any spider running around there (which are likely carnivores), but specific creatures. They are only found at the lowest level of Red Rock and trigger the quest step when you see them.

Thank you for the tip. I thought I have searched everywhere. I will try again

The dungeon is 4 strata deep. On the lowest level you should find purple horrifying spider creatures called "Girshling", which unlike most spiders are not skittish and try to run away, but are instantly aggressive towards you.

Also make sure that the top bar still says "Red Rock", since adjacent zone do not belong to it anymore and are the waterlogged tunnels or just some random marsh underground, which is not related to the quest.

I did it thanks to your help. I felt this quest a little bit random. I don´t even understand why my character recognized the vermin in the first place.

"Somethin' is eating our watervine, 'round Beetle Moon. Q-ruun says he saw a creature, spider-like, slinking in the brine. But no cave spider would dare get so near Warden's stomps."
So you were basically looking for a spider that is no simple cave spiders and sounds pretty "unknown".

The description of the defanged girshlings is "Star orchid saliva pools in the cavities where its fangs used to be and drips onto pallid leg-things. It shudders in the capture of some pristine ecstasy lost to space and time, and it lets out a proud and piercing whine."
which very much sounds like they look pretty alien to your character and even though your characters does not for sure know that those might have been it, they seemed very much out of place between all those mostly normal animal/mutated animal creatures out there. They could have maybe left out the quest step about finding them and just let the players bring back all spider like corpses the find, but that would have been pretty annoying, so you just get a quest step success to ease you in. Since it is the first Quest in the game, that is probably a nice thing to do.

You convinced me. It makes sense, but as I couldn´t reread the description in the Journal I forgot about the details. Too much grinding and i tend to forget everything...

So if I kill the girshling in the water I cannot recover the corpse? This is way too much for me, even in Wander mode. I don´t have the patience.

There are multiple of the girshlings down there, you do not have to find a Single unique monster.

This...if you can't find one, one will find you. :)

Killing something in water should have no influence on the corpse. If you burn it to ashes you've got a problem, but otherwise a corpse should be dropped.

In theory the quest is also no crucial and can be skipped.
