u died: temp fugue clone gives no f***s about explosive radius of grenades
i had a HE mkIII grenade on me and created a temp fugue clone who immediately thru it at the guy i was melee'ing, thus killing them and myself.

does the game expect me to pat myself down and remove skirmish items before using this ability? why ♥♥♥♥♥♥ this ability with bad AI?

If you use temp fugue you really need to build around it, it's usually strongest with either a pure melee or pure ranged build, and get rid of any extra stuff like grenades, tonics, or gadgets with active abilities. That way the clones focus only on attacking with their primary weapon. If you do that it's an incredibly powerful build.

That said, if you really just want to embrace the chaos, get defensive powers like phasing or teleport so you can just dip out and let your clones go wild with whatever you have on you after unleashing them.

They won't throw things from containers. In my experience, they won't throw anything ever if you don't have a thrown item equipped when you spawn them. You can equip and unequip throwing weapons as a free action. It costs you nothing to "pat yourself down."
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

If you use it right, that's basically infinite Hand-E-Nukes.
Not that I know how that actually works, since I'm more of a Chimera fan.

Yeah grenade builds with temporal fugue vastly reduces the cost. You can get the ability on chimeras (and True Kin with 2 grafted mirrors arms) too though.

Clones also don't care about ranged weapons while you are in melee distance with the target. Do you have a mortar, rocket launcher, or hell a swarm missile rack? You're going to get mulched along with your enemy. Specialize in pistol skills and have disarm? Your clones will disarm not only you, but each other when catching stray bullets in the crossfire.

I think it's a fair compromise. Temporal Fugue is one of the most powerful mutations in the game depending on your build. It's like having the Mimic Tear in Elden Ring before it got nerfed, but you can have 7 of them (14 with Crystal Delight). If friendly fire is the one barrier keeping the devs from nerfing it, then I would prefer it stays. I can adapt around this.

experiences like that are why this game is a pile of smoking hot ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
you die THEN you find out all the stuff you had no way of knowing about ...after you lose your character ----for the umpteenth time ---to some stupid game gank feature yeah heads up thats not really fun game dev person. so good luck on selling this turd to many people most (normal) people will get completely fed up with this unfair buggy ass rat maze crap within about 3 runs max.

i refuse to be forced by the game to use forums to find out things that i ought to be able to figure out in the game on my own somehow but this game doesnt allow the player any consistent way to get those pesky details ,,,until you die. like getting a fungal infection you cant find any info about it i wasted skill points getting the physic que because it had cure disease and guess what ... just wasted skill points. i will continually tell everyone what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game this is ...because it is .

I mean, if dying and losing your character bothers you that much, why not try playing on the mode that doesn't have permanent death? If nothing else, it's a perfect mode to experiment and find out how things function through personal experience without losing all of your hard work.

its not the actual dying / losing stuff that is annoying it is the fact that those and many many other negative outcomes in the game usually couldve been easily avoided or planned for except for the fact that the game is intentionally obscure and enigmatic to the point of that game "feature" actually making the game suck .

and sure i can play it with saves ---then its just scum saving and not really fun either.
the CORRECT fix wouldve simply been to design the game better for example the devs COULD have added something in the game like ( note: cure disease does not work on fungal infections) in the skill queue tree there where i could read it ( without going to a forum, or wtf ever ) so I WOULD NOT WASTE TIME OR SKILL POINTS ON USELESS CRAP I DONT NEED OR WANT .

things like that are whats really really annoying and more annoying is that bad/dumb game design makes it that way and that example is just a microcosm of annoyance because the WHOLE EFFING GAME IS LIKE THAT . so yeah good luck with selling this ocd hot dumpster fire to normal people.

Skill issue. Do better next time.

Fungi form a symbiosis with you and do not infect you with a disease. The physic skill tree does have a skill to get rid of (most) fungi infections by amputation. You can see how NPCs react with grenades and friendlies with the rather common Goatfolk villages and a lot of other allied creatures do the same with ranged weapons, starting at Snapjaws. You probably know from yourself that you don't treat your own temporal fugues any better than they treat you and friendly fire is a common occurrence in video games to the point where I would say that one could expect the possibility when summoning a bunch of yourselves and play/test carefully.

nope the game will not dictate how i play in that way eg getting an infection that is so hard to get rid of that it effectively makes the game ....well suck. .

i just completely avoid those places now and so they arent a problem. seems like a lot of wasted dev game design effort for something i ( and i can safely predict lots of other people as well ) wont ever use but whatever .

There does happen to be a potential build you can try to make fungus less of a burden. I'm planning on giving it a go myself once I get the pre-requisites taken care of.

There is a trinket you can get which, if RNG is lucky, allows you to get +14 to all elemental resistances plus +4 to AV per fungus infection you have. With how I typically play my mutant, I'm looking at well over 200 to all elemental resistances, meaning I'll be immune to everything even after getting hit with plasma. The fungus I would try and shoot for is Mumble Mouth, because each instance of the infection has their own 5% chance to give you a secret when entering a zone. There are several arm and face slots I am willing to sacrifice to host these infections, turning me into both an absolute unit of a tank and a repository of secrets.

The only downside to this is that you need a bit of prep work to pull off. You need 10 settlements to have 600+ favor with you.
