1.0 spoilers: to those who beat the game already, how many endings are there?
as usual the wiki for this game takes months to be updated with correct information and i've only beaten the game once myself to get what seems to be the """bad""" ending.

It's possible that no one knows for sure yet.

The hidden achievements might hint at a few of the possible endings. You have to go to Global achievement stats and click to reveal spoilers, though.

I beat the game twice now, and the endings I got were basic and underwhelming.

SPOILER: One ending, I didn't talk to Barathrum properly on the ascent, so I didn't even get the lore dump, then I just accidentally killed Resheph and went back to earth with nothing else to do. The next ending, I got the lore dump and left in the spaceship after looking around for things to do. Not much better than the first ending in terms of satisfaction.

I'm thinking there must be a proper ending that involves speaking with Resheph, but I can't figure out how to open the casket without destroying his core. Otherwise, these endings kind of suck. No more Templar, no Ptoh, no coven, just the ramblings of a senile Urshiib and then a game over screen after looking around an old space port. Not really worth the wait IMO.

Someone let me know if they figure out the real ending.

I beat the game now too and i made a backup just before i ascended to the spindle in the golem. You can actually talk to reseph by activating the three hologram projectors on the left sorry, i meant right side at the northmost northern ark: screenshot (its those three thingamajigs connected by wires a few tiles above me and the hologram, you need to ctrl+space next to them and target their tile, then activate them.) I don't know if it makes any difference whether or not you actually got any infos from barathrum while you were ascending or not (for the record, i did).

I've reloaded the save a few times now and so far ive found 3 "main" endings: Go to the spaceship (with or without barathrum), the "bad" ending: qud is plagued by the gyre, all sapient life is extinguished ||| "kill" resheph by opening the sarcophagus and then return to qud, the "normal" ending: qud is still suffering from the plagues but with your help sapient life survives ||| kill barathrum and form a covenant with resheph, ushering an era of prosperity together with resheph, the "good" ending

Yeah, just give it a few weeks, not much has changed in the last while in terms of quests before 1.0, the golem quest is pretty new too and its up there pretty detailed.

I think these were broken on my first try and I just ignored them on the second. Peak game design is letting clueless players miss the entire ending and then permanently delete their save file.

it sounds like there might be a different ending for killing all 7 super bosses and killing rasheph and going back to Qud cause I thought that ending was pretty satisfying

Could be, i think it might be the "ungyre" achievement (im still missing that one) though i have the feeling it might also take something else in addition... not sure though.

Yeah, that was... something, i was kinda miffed i had to just replace my save every time i ascended (i had to watch the long ass acension scene sooo many times .-.), wouldve been nice if the game made an automatic backup literally the moment before you use the golem to ascend.

I've just finished the game and I think, with copying back saves from a certain point, I've got 5 endings, which are in reality more like 3 + 1 + 1. The first three are talking to Resheph (accede, covenant and rebuke), the fourth is kiling two supercharged cherubs and then opening the casket, and the fifth is using the ship (unavailable if Barathrum gets there first and flies away without you).

I agree with the speaker above that the endings are somewhat disappointing. The location itself is beautiful, eerie and hauntingly quiet, I really liked it, even if it's much smaller than the overmap makes it seem at first. The post credit scene is kind of cute, too, but the whole Resheph final chamber thing feels a tad hollow. Another 'harvesting/resetting' sentience trope all over again...?

What especially feels glaringly missing is Ptoh. From what I know of Qud lore - maybe it's been my head canon all along? - this world was basically shaped by Ptoh being somewhere on it, the entire plot hinges on the darkling being. Psionics likely exist - at least in the way they do - because of Ptoh; True Kin are Aristocrats because they can't be mutated into psionics, which are Ptoh's influence; the injuction in the first place was because of Ptoh; even the Templar are, likely, a bastardized, corrupted version of early groups meant to contain Ptoh on the planet - at the very least, if Ptoh was more involved in the plot, it would make more sense for them to attack the Spindle ascension project with such zeal. Resheph's reference to the 'noosphere' not being up to snuff by Coven standards and requiring a reset does not seem to refer to Ptoh, either. I really expected some sort of resolution of this cosmic conflict between Coven and Ptoh for 1.0, but no.

I would hope that maybe carrying the Prism would change something, but haven't checked it out yet. I did try to spawn it in the last chamber with the wish command, but maybe that's not it.

That being said, I'm glad with 1.0 being out, but, c'mon, where's our darkling bird-lovin' eldritch beaut at...?

Edit: Oh, also: what is there to do in the Star Orchid temple? There's some kind of a tree-being there, but they do not seem to do or say anything substantial. Also, I tried using a Fix-it Spray Foam on the broken ?portal generator? there. It didn't work (but removed the [broken] status).

I agree, I wish there was more on Ptoh. FYI, true kin CAN be mutated into psionics with the gamma moth. And there are far too many of those buggers deep underground.

i woild have thought killing all the nephilim would affect the ending. Ltherwise, what other reason could one have to want to do that? for the challenge? bragging rights? yeah, there's achievements tied to those, but why wouldn't those affect the ending you get?
