How does everybody trade for high priced items?
This is how I give lots of items to a trader for high priced items.
1. Grab items from my chest to sell.
2. Give these items to companion, which overburdens him.
3. Go to merchant area, which automatically drags companion to area.
4. Push (run into) companion to get him close to merchant so that I'm between companion and merchant.
5. Grab all items to trade from companion and trade them for high priced item from merchant.

Is this how everybody else does this? I feel like a noob and missing something with trading.
I'm thinking of a banking system or credit system in replacement.

trade heavier items for gold nuggets and gemstones and stuff. their value is always fixed you don't lose any water buying/selling them. indicated by yellow $ sign.

Diving deepish underground gets you a lot of high value stuff is how! Including gemstones

That, and dominating or beguiling (also beugiling with cooking) works if you want to scum it.

Gemstones, buy them off q-girl or jewelers so don't have to carry as much junk and water around.

So you buy up fixed value items and then trade for higher priced items. So have you accumulated enough fixed value items to trade for zetachrome lunes (avg price 11000 drams)?

I haven't gotten to the point where gemstones drop often. I have fought underground (~ level 27 to 30) where I've disarmed swarm turrets, blast and phase cannons, and rocket turrets. I'd give them to my companion(s) and tp to stiltground.

So with over $100,000 drams worth of weapons on my companion what should I do then.

Gemstone merchants can carry 10k worth of gems I'm pretty sure.

Getting to the loot is only half the problem in the game. There's definitely an inventory management aspect to it. Consider things like spheres of negative weight, backpacks and hoversleds to make it easier. Even strength bonus on something like ulnar stimulators when that tiny bit of carry capacity is all you need.

Don't get me wrong I like the whole water as currency concept. But it gets literally cumbersome. Maybe spin a story where a true kin (name him Jelly Donut) finally got tired of carrying tonnes water and created a water compression system and made it zero weight.
Or an Ursid working with the Barathrumites coded a computer network system to keep track of one's wealth aka banking/credit system.

Water is perhaps the worse currency anybody could have devised. You don't use vitally useful and abundant things as currency.

The point is, you don't really need to exchange everything into water, just place a box near the merchant you always want to trade with, place all the loots into that box, whenever you see something you want to buy appear, just trade with an item with similar price.

And if you are a ESPer, there are way too many methods to earn water. Just Proselytize the Jewelry and Book merchant to get everything for free, what is the point of spend time to move Loots anymore? You can even use Proselytize to mind control the merchant, group them up into one place and tell them to stay there, afterwards whenever you need to check restock, you can do it all together.

You have a lot of options for trading, high level gemmed weapons, armor, etc sell for quite a lot(In the upper thousands range) as well as hand-e-nukes, but they're all rare.

I typically can get a lot of water in the early game by butchering dawngliders and selling their prepared tails(IIRC which are 0 weight), stacking desert rifles(Heavy, but they sell) from raiders, and running tinkering if im feeling cheesy

most valuables in the game I prefer are:
Copper Ingots - $100
Gemstones - $100ish to like $350
Fermented Yondercane or Yuckwheat in massive stacks if you're looking for storing literally hundreds of thousands worth of freshwater in your inventory for little to no weight

You can also store a chest next to whoever you're trading with in the stilt and also visit dromad merchants/legendary merchants in the world

Once you're like 75000 turns in? money just becomes a joke and stacking waterskins/plastifiers becomes incredibly tedious/heavy

you can still use sseth's method of freeze drying lava but it's much more difficult to do now and you're likely to lose a lot of money getting it exactly right(You get 1-2 turns to actually pick up the freeze dried lava and once it's frozen in your inventory it takes a while to actually melt)

Clone high level merchants like dromad traders deep underground since they can sell high level stuff.

Beguile/proselytize one, bring them back to the surface, clone them as often as you can. If you can't beguile/proselytize them, get a (re)programmable recoiler set to wherever they are so you can warp to them anytime.

This also works for jewelers. Jewelers will probably be a lot easier to make into a companion for relocation though.

That strat is pretty much dead.

If you want lots of money, and you already have money to spare, put a dram of cloning draught into a waterskin then use metamorphic polygel on it. Combine the draught and duplicate again. Repeat until waterskin is full.

Now every time you duplicate the full waterskin of cloning draught, you'll get another full skin. Infinite money. No really, a full container is about $100k+.

With just about any kind of self-sufficient power cell and two recoilers, you can effectively convert storage problems into gaming time.

I'm curious what y'all are doing with all that money anyway. Apart from cloning draught and metamorphic polygel, I can't think of anything that merchants sell that would stay relevant in the late game.

Neutron Flux

I know I don't need 100AV, but I want it anyway. :P

Also gear I can break into materials I can use to make an endless number of spheres of negative weight.

Fair enough, there's Neutron Flux. Aren't you scared of a random glowpad getting lucky with a vibro weapon though ?

Why do you think I want 100AV from Neutron Flux? Since I'm so (un)naturally armored, I can equip high DV armor and get the best of both worlds. :P
