Explain two-headed to me.
I was under the impression that two-headed effectively reduced the cooldown of mental mutations. But my syphon vim doesn't seem to be affected in that way, as it still takes 200 rounds for cooldown.

Am I mistaken? Or does it make you execute mental tasks faster? What is "energy" in reference to when it say "mental actions cost 20% less energy"?

It makes mental actions take less time. Not the most useful thing unless you have tons of mental mutations and willpower.
as far as I understand "energy" is referring to the invisible timer that ticks on everyone taking turns. The game has a queue of sorts where everyone takes turns until their energy hits a certain point, at which point they fall to the back of the line so other creatures can go.

Only AlphaBeard can probably say for sure, though. I just think I remember him saying something to this effect somewhere before...

So two-headed would just be quickness applied only to mental abilities, basically.

and resistance to a status effect, and the ability to double down on knollworm skulls.

I believe it's been mentioned double helms doesn't give the double buff, but i'm not sure if that's been fixed/will be fixed.
Energy is a universal resource that deturmine's your placement in turn order... Basically think of final fantasy's ATB turn system, where you only need 80% of your turn bar filled up.

You generate 1000 energy a turn and almost all actions cost 1000 energy to use. you move a square, you use 1000 energy, throw a nade, 1000 energy, lick a watervine farmer, 1000 energy the enemy pays this amount as well.
two headed at level 1 gives a flat 20% deduction for mental mutations.
so you use 800 energy when you cast lase or sunder mind for example, while the enemy still needs to pay 200 energy, thus your turn comes first.

Quickness deturmines how much energy you accumulate in a turn. You start off with 100(aka100%)quickness, thus If you have +10 quickness, you will have 1100 energy to spend in a turn.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. That was really helpful. =)

In fact, the FFT analogy works perfectly for me.

does this mean at 110% quickness, you get an extra turn every 10 turns? or am i thinking about it wrong?

Don't quote me on that, but I always assumed that this is how it works.

Yes, that is how it works. Since by that time you have accumulated 1000 extra energy to act twice in a turn.
This kind of system is also used in ADOM, if I remember correctly.

Would be really handy if this info could be stuck on the wiki, there is essentially zero info on Two Headed on there.

Well, I suppose I'll be a nice wiki admin and do that then. ♥ :)

Awesome :)

Note that as a practical matter, Two Headed is a hard mutation to build around. If you're using a lot of mental mutations, you probably want to be Ego and Willpower focused; and if you're doing that, you'd benefit more from being an Esper than from having a second head.

This is probably why it only costs two points. It's not as good as it looks on paper because it's incompatible with generally-superior options.
