how to fix rusty stuff

yo! I just started a gunslinger guy and after several turns one of the revolver I started with got rusty and is now unusable - how do I prevet stuff from rust so fast and is there any way to 'repair' it?

you can repair it with "repair" ability, or use fix-it device, also npc in Joppa can repair it for you
some creatures can rusting your stuff, to prevent that, dont let them hit you

The Rustaceans which you also find in the Rust wells are even worse, because they do some pretty mean damage, have a lot of HP and armor, and they follow you. Luckily, you'll usually only encounter them somewhat deeper in the wells.

can somebody explain in detail how to repair rusted stuff? i have the repair ability but cannot find any way to "activate" or "use" that skill. it does not appear when i look at the rusted weapon nor when i look at my abilities page (which is exactly the same page as the mutations page by the way)
If this is a bug on this run, please explain alternatively, how exactly you repair at joppa, as i cant find a way to let either the trader nor the tinkerer fix it. i neeeed that carbide sword for that sluberling!!!!

halleluja, i managed to press R at the vendor and he repaired it. why isnt this explained or showed as an option somewhere... whatever... back to the caves.... still, if anyone can explain how to use your own repair skill on rusted items, please do so.

But... it is described. Just look at the "more" section of commands when talking to a merchant and it tells you what else you can press.

Yes, can someone explain how to use the repair skill? Will the option be available if I have the needed bits?

Despite the name, I've never actually had a rustacean rust any of my belongings; which is honestly kind of disappointing. They can temporarily "break" armor, like a number of other creatures.
