Gaslight weapons, anything special effects?
So I got a sweet gaslight kris... it has high penetration I think, soso damage dice, and requires energy cells. Does it have any bonus beyond what is indicated by the weapon stats? Or does powering it just give me that 9 penetration and nothing else?

Also the name is written in three shades of green which is f'ing rad.

Basically, the 2 gaslight weapons are carbide daggers/long swords that don't need strength for penetration. Not very good but maybe useful for certain builds. VIbroblade is strictly better than Gaslight Flyssa, but for some reason vibrodagger has pretty bad damage dice.
So this basically gives a static penetration value? Hmm, well with shank now affecting main-hand weapons, I'd say this is not quite as useful now. But it is a single point of penetration higher than my carbine shortsword, so I guess it stays for now.

Gaslight weapons aren't terribly useful. Mostly because they are quite rare and by the time you find one, you usually tend to have like a folded carbide sword and/or enough strength to have higher or equal PV.

That and Vibroblades aren't much rarer and are actually useful. There's also a guaranteed one right at the start if you have a pair that clank and the power to back it up.

I hope they get changed someway to be useful early on.

They are, you just can't get them early on and even if you get them they're only useful on people who aren't specced for melee combat. They're the same tier as folded carbide so the guaranteed merchants only rarely have them. Maybe if they didn't use the same power as the laser rifle that's on the same tier, does more damage and is a ranged weapon.

I suppose that is true, but I think it still could and should be a bit better so it wouldn't get overshadowed so fast. I mean, if you are playing a non-melee character, you would be avoiding all melee combat most of the time anyway, to the point that having the gaslight weapon is not useful at all either.
It definitely could use higher PV more than anything. At least to differentiate it a bit.
