Ruin of House Isner - tips for finding?

With the upcoming release I want to try a build focused around using this weapon but in all my playthroughs I can never seem to find it. I remember in previous playthroughs skimming through every book I cam across for hints of it buried in the text... is there a consistent way to find this item?

I don't think books can give you hints about locations. Your best bet is probably to get trash divining and finding the location that way.

Trolls will share secrets concerning the locations of artifacts. If you can waterbond with all three trolls in Bethesda Susa, you can get secrets from each of them when you have high enough reputation. They are not aggressive, so if you get above -250 reputation, they won't attack you. Hagabbah is tricky to interact with though. You need Night Vision (the mutation or the implant) or Night Vision Goggles in order to see him and you have to make sure he's not standing near the convalescence pools, otherwise you can't interact with him for water-bonding and getting secrets.

Others can correct me on this, but all legendaries will share two secrets each, so you have six shots at learning the location of Ruin of House Isner, so you need to get 300 rep in the positive, plus however much you need to accrue to get out of the negative. Be sure to kill the trolls' enemies and avoid killing their friends. If you have Love Injectors, Proselytize, or Beguile, these will help a lot to get waterbonding with the trolls themselves in case your reputation is too far below.

Beyond the trolls, the procedurally-generated books have a **SMALL** chance of revealing a directional lead to the pistol's location. Both directional hints could appear in one book, but more likely they will be in separate books. These will get automatically logged in your journal when you find the page(s) that have these clues written down. The fastest way to get this is when you read a book to tap right as fast as you can. You may be going through a lot of books you find. Once you've scanned these books, you're all clear to donate them to the Stilt or sell them if you prefer.

Trash diving has worked for me once.
Trolls secrets will work. They told me where the pistol, stopsvalin, and kindred bracelet was. Though the bracelet is a pain..you gotta kill everything! Turn over every stone..you don't know where it is on the map.

-- I have had legendaries sometimes tell 3 secrets, but not sure this was glitch as its usually two only.

I was pretty sure that the time I found it, it was by reading books. I am pretty sure that if you're reading through a book and it gives you one of the two coordinates (longitude or latitude), you got a note in the gossip section of your journal, but that doesn't appear to be the case (anymore?).

It's possible that you have to tap the key repeatedly instead of holding it, which is bad news for my wrist pain.

There are some white books with some hidden directions regarding the pistol locations. You just have to skim through them to find for some x parasangs directions. Since most of the books content are RNG based, you'll see a lot of gibberish, but definitely there is tips for finding the actual location.

While i was lost at the salt dunes, i randomly stumbled upon a chest with the gun, i got the achievement and didn't even know why lol
