it just feels the correct choice for me.
I'm sure mutant is cool and fun but, for me, feels the wrong class.
As for the grind, I adore the early struggle and just being a non entity in a massive universe.
for me, insta becoming "the HERO", as we do in Bethesda games, leaves me cold.
as you say, OP, it's great we get to choose!
live and Drink!
Espers of course do have less of an issue with physical combat and gear at the start until you get a few levels and those +ego items would be pretty handy, but their power pool is pretty limited at the start due to cooldowns or charges and have quite a bit of downtime, which I personally find boring. They also do not have access to as much power and utility than other mutants do, especially since the addition of warm static.
I think True Kin (at least early game) are better suited for people who enjoy the physical side of combat or even a follower or tinkerer build (though those also fall down quite a bit towards mid game until later on). If you enjoy the mental power playstyle the most, there is not much True Kin can offer until much later.
To be honest though, I kinda hope they will change Yla Haj, since she does not only not restock cybernetics stuff (making a hole in mid-game progression for True Kin a bit), but also does not sell any bits (making a hole in mid-game progression for tinkering.. except that you can buy artefacts from Sixshrew for a much higher cost), offering her as a rather lacking low count datadisk trader after the first visit and nothing more. Since data disk trade is not tiered and Grit Gate has a lot more of them to offer, she is pretty superfluous after visiting her once. I do still buy her restocking recoiler for bits though, but even with that in mind Yurl offers more bits on the average visit.
