Not Sure If Eating Neutron Flux Worked

It says I should get a permenant +1 to my AV, but once I stopped metabolising the food the +1 seemed to disappear, is that right?

Is there anywhere I can see what is affecting my AV bonus? I can only see my AV at the top but not what affects it

The "showstatshifts" wish isn't working well for AV it seems. You would need to count up your AV from armour yourself and check if it worked.

It should give you permanent AV though and not just during the metabolising. The effect disappearing has no meaning for this specific cooking effect and some others. I never had it bug out and not being permanent so far, even in the newest patch.

The reason I was also a bit confused is I think I'm sure I had some effect earlier in the game or with another equipment which set my base AV as always 1.

OK I can try and count up my equipment AV, but how do I know my base AV? Is it always 1?

Base AV is usually 0. Calloused (in the endurance tree), neutron flux, mutations and cybernetics are the few ways to get natural AV over 0. Cooking with bone meal can also grant AV, but that one vanishes when the metabolising effect vanishes.

Keep in mind that (most) similar body slots even out their AV. This is marked in red/green and usually important with arm slots or with extra limbs. Shields only grant AV for blocks and don't add to your displayed AV stat.

OK I had a look, I definitely don't think it worked.

Do red mean I don't get them?

I currently have mumble mouth, I'm pretty sure it was that which I thought set my AV to 1

Red means basically "you will get less than this", that you will likely not get the full displayed value, as it evens out with the AV of the other items on similar slots. It's green with negative values (usually DV), since then it means "you will get more than this". Where is your mumble mouth? It might not give you any AV at all, if it is on your arm and you don't have a leather bracer on the other (and have more than 1 arm).

You could just post a screenshot of your characters equipment screen if you are not a high level chimera.

Thank you, here is a screenshot.

I have taken 2 meals with neutron flux, both of which said they gave me a permentnat +1AV and both of which seemed to while metobolism but now I don't think have~

My AV is currently 8 and my DV is currently 13 according to the numbers at the top of the screen.

I am only counting 5.5 AV bonus from your equipment, so the neutron flux seems to have worked.

Just take off all of your gear, and your AV should be whatever above zero (although there is that one skill that adds +1 AV, so keep that in mind; plus some mutations add AV). I guess that no cybernetics add AV since the game is weird about delineating bonuses between genotypes so playstyles stay distinct...

forgot about that one, so I guess True Kin does have that option (although weird that there isn't a higher tier version that combines dermal plating with dermal insulation).

True kin already have sphynx salt + neutron flux, so AV is not of the greatest interest for them in late game imo and most of them start with 15 cold or heat resistance and there are grounding shunts.

More accurately, 2/3rds of them start with heat or cold resistance, and yes, late game it is sort of less useful. Which means that basically the only reason that dermal/high grade dermal insulation get destroyed upon removal is in order to create a tradeoff for Bethesda Susa, since that's the last "real" dungeon with element issues (barring the insane amounts of magma found deep underground and deep in the asphalt mines). Which is dumb. Function following form and all.

Do I not get the AV bonus from my shield if I am holding it then or am I missing something? I should be getting AV of 7 from my shield

just unequip all
account for all other traits/perks etc
neutron is tricky but worth, natural AV is noice
