How do you light a torch? and douse a torch?

Its been a while since ive played this game. I have an unlit torch and cant work out how to light it,
Is there a common key to activate something you are holding?

I... don't even remember how I do it when I play, I don't even think about it.

Presumably if you just go into your inventory and open up the torch's item menu, there will be an option to light or douse the torch.

If there's a quick button to do so, I don't know it since I only use torches very briefly at the start of a run. But it'd be listed in the key bindings.

It has to be in your hand, to be lit. Otherwise it will be doused by default.

Confusingly, you can only "drop" it from you inventory, so it will always be unlit when dropped.

If you equip it in your "thrown weapon" slot, then it will be lit when it is thrown. But it will not be lit or producing light when it is in the slot.

I'm fairly sure there is an option (probably even a default one) that do this automatically if you got one in hand.

also, you can do it manually via the equip screen.

I had to leave the game after lighting the torch and now it won't let me relite it. Went through all the dialog and both things wont let me light it how do i get through the maze without it?

No it only shows cancel.

just grab yourself a floating glow orb and sell your torches.

There should be a contextual option to light or douse the torch on the torch itself. This option may be disabled if there is a global option to automatically light/douse torches as appropriate for the light level (an option which I believe was added a few months ago).

Alternatively you could try unequipping and reequipping it.

Haven't played since the torch change so I couldn't tell you from experience.
