Ho don't get me wrong, I'm fairly sure it would not be fun ^^
I was just saying it may be possible.
Most of the controls are handled by the space bar. It's not like trying to port ADOM or CDDA to a console, where you do literally use the entire keyboard. Other roguelikes with simplified controls, like Tangledeep have done just fine ported over to console.
I guess I did. Not sure what kind of keyboard you have, but mine has more than enough buttons. Its not like you need reflexes for this game.
As for with a controller... how about dpad or left stick to move (probably better with buttons), A for action (like the spacebar), one of the face buttons to fire ranged weaponry, l/ zl/ r/ rl + face buttons for hotkeys, + to go into the menu, - to go into inventory. The UI would be a little clunky, but it already sounds like the controls are more feasible than you want me to believe.
Except it was a BAD joke because you really DON'T, especially in the context of other traditional roguelikes.
awww, now I feel like a clown with egg on his face, I'm sorry, I did miss the joke (though I do still insist it wasn't really funny, now that I understand it).
