How to improve faction standing with a faction that hates me?
The Seekers of the Sightless Way start out with -500 rep toward the player. How can I increase this? Shoot a love injector into someone and then do a water ritual? Must I find 3rd party people who have good standing with the seekers, and water ritual with them? That wouldn't give me much and I need to close this 500 point deficit.

Modifiers for disguises of various factions sometimes appear on some armor which gives like 400-500 faction rep the disguise is based off of.
I even had a disguise of the sightless way which made them neutral to me as well as another game I found a disguise of a farmer which gave the farming guild rep while worn.

I have only ever seen worn items give +200 rep at most, usually it's +50. And they're hard to find because they are random.

I am not talking about scaled or feathered stuff It is specifically a "disguise" of a certain member of a faction like "disguise of the sightless way" or "disguise of a farmer" which I don't think you can ever learn to do yourself.

It also has the effect of changing the creatures sprite to that of the factions sprite (sightless way disguise makes you look like 1 of the low level cult members) which had confused me at first since when I found it a Kobold was wearing it but was still titled as just a normal Kobold.

I´ve found a disguise of the Stilt people once that gave me enough boost with their reputation to recruit the high priest as a follower. And I think I´ve seen a Barathrumite disguise one time, but I can be mistaken on this one.

You want Schrodinger Pages: https://cavesofqud.gamepedia.com/Schrodinger_page_from_the_Annals_of_Qud. They are occasionally for sell from general merchants or at book stores. You'll need two or so to get to neutral reputation.

I had a Schroedinger page but unfortunately when I used it, it gave me +rep with DOGS who already liked me! AAARRGGGHHH WORTHLESS even though it was such a rare item.

Is there any way to make a Schroedinger page give me rep with a specific faction? I was so angry when it gave me +rep with &#*$( DOGS

Schrodinger Pages are generated with either a specific faction that they will only work with or an unspecified faction i.e. you get to choose when you use it
This will be displayed as [<Faction> chapter] or [chapter unspecified] at the end of the page's description.
You may need to view the full description to see this as the item name is long and can get cut-off in the inventory view

You can hit npcs with love injectors and then manually chat them to do the water ritual. Either using a booster gun or just equipping the injector in hand will work. Just make sure not to damage them when the effect wears off.

If it's an npc with a ton of armour you can go through a tedious process of cracking through it with crits from a copper axe while letting the npc heal in a pool of convalescence.

How does attacking them & letting them heal up in a pool of convalescence make them like you?

You will never get a love injector to connect with an npc wearing tons of armour, so you can use the crit effect from an axe to crack away at their armour rating until it's possible. Using a low damage axe and trapping them in convalescence keeps them alive.

Of course you have to not have the decap ability.

Ah! That makes a lot of sense then.

You can clone booksellers in the Stilt to farm Schrodinger's pages (with Cloning Draught or a pet cloneling...as far as I'm aware). Also find and kill legendary enemies who are hated by the particular faction; or water ritual with those who are loved. You can't find them reliably - but the Salt Flats are a pretty good place to look for legend groups if you want to expend the time and effort, with all that empty space and lack of cover.

You can also find figurines that depict a certain faction (the higher the tier of the material, the more temporary rep you get with the faction depicted in the figurine) but those are rare and they need to be held in one hand in order for the rep boost to take in effect.

killing a legendary character improves your reputation with the faction that hate that character. so find yourself a faction you don't care about and try to ignore the screaming
