Joke aside, I think you underestimate the persistence of a few determined putus troll as well as the potential snowball effet it can have.
Also, there is other stuff than discord in life.
I've never needed access to any discord to enjoy a game. What does the discord give that makes it invaluable?
I'm *in* the discord and tbh, would find not having access to these Steam forums (which are pretty quiet) a bigger issue than if I lost discord access.
I'd love to understand OPs reasoning.

I asked a fairly daft question the other day to which I got a dev response.
i used to work in a nightclub. we charged folk 5 quid extra to acess upstairs. there was no difference to downstairs, we just decided to call it VIP. folk clamoured to get in there. I was even offered sexual services to gain access. it seems the minute something is closed off to the general public they get desperate to get in.
having limited access to the discord won't limit ones enjoyment of the game.
