Tinker III intelligence requirement is too high
I finished the game just now with a level 28 tinker after about 80 hours on this character and I *STILL* didn't have the base 29 intelligence needed to get Tinker III. I had high int above 29 boosted from a co-processor helmet but good lord. I think Tinker III should have an intelligence requirement that is lower, maybe 27.

Is it supposed to be an ultra-late-game or post-game only skill? Does a player need to put in 100 hours to get it? Was that intentional?

What kind of character did you start with?
Dr.Desty Nova Apr 5, 2021 @ 4:43am
As a rule of tumbs, if you're aiming for those skill that need 29 of some stat, you should focus on this stat from the beginning.

A thinker who go full int from character creation can start with like 26 int.

At this point, you don't even really need to put point in it as by lvl18 you'll be at 29 thanks to the +1 to all attribute every 6 lvl.

The real question should be: is thinker III worth the point investment.
But that's another story xd

Sounds like you prioritized other stats over int... You can get 29 way before that if you're focusing on int.

You can start the game with 27 intelligence, that means you can get 29 at level 6. Clearly you just don't want the skill if you're not prioritizing it in 80 hours.

I started with INT too low because I had to boost my other stats just to survive past clevel 6. You're right I should have put way more in to it at the start, I didn't realize how sparse attribute gains are throughout the game.

after awhile you realize how its possible to get 29 int on pretty much any character. think smarter, not grinder. for example. mutants can buy cloning draught, clone a book merchant, and buy[steal] several unspecfied chapters to become freinds with the putas, and either gamble/ procog/ or use the needle straight up to increase int.

truekin can take cloning to insane levels, by using a teleprojector and rebuke on a cloneling, and making up to 40 copies of a kipper, and buying eater nectar. the chance of 25% may be low, but eater nectar is surprisingly cheap. the annoy part is the stuff is very rare, even with 40-80 chef clones. legendary chefs might be a better choice

even a chimera, who lacks the ability of precog can do this. hell, the chimera has a slight advantage in terms of fungal infections compared to others, since they grow extra body parts. have you ever had 20 appendages, all growing luminous hoarseshroom? the stuff is valuable, even to a weak ego'd individual. the only thing i dont think you can take advantage of as a chimera, compared to esper and truekin, is probably neutron flux, since i dont think brain brine can give you mutations; of which is clonable via metamorphic polygel

Those things increase base intelligence? How does becoming friends with the Putus Templar help? Do they sell an injector that increase base attributes?
Stellar Apr 9, 2021 @ 9:53am
Also where does one meet legendary vendors like a legendary chef? At very deep levels? That seems like a huge crapshoot. Meeting a high level dromad in the depths is already ultra rare.

Legendary Putus Templar and Mechanimist characters can sell Eater's Nectar Injectors, which if you're a mutant, either grants one mutation point or one random attribute. However, you can preserve the injector into Drops of Nectar which grants 25% chance to increase ALL attributes by 1 or does absolutely nothing.

You don't have to be friendly with them, by the way. Killing them will still have them drop their stuff including the injectors. Seeing as the Templar hate everyone that isn't True Kin, you'll probably have to murder them for their god needles.

If you go this route, I recommend picking up the Precognition mutation so you can keep retrying to get the results you want. Alternatively, stock up on Sphinx Salt Injectors as True Kin in order to gain Precognition that way.

Chef workshops and lairs tend to be found on the surface. Keep an eye out for book sellers like Bookbinders and Scribes, sometimes they'll sell advertisements to legendary vendors. I recently found one who sold me an advertisement to a legendary scribe who I'm now cloning.

You're welcome.

You become friend with the Putus templar the same way that you become friend with any other faction. Schrodinger pages and legendary killing.

Legendary vendor shop are like lair, surface + 1/2 strata deep.

You find their location by either trading secret, luck or advertisement ( "book" that tell you their location).

Mayor Nuntu (kyakukia) seem to always have one to sell (along with corpus choliys)
BattelMatter Apr 9, 2021 @ 1:29pm
as far as im aware, the mayor only ever sells one advertisement, and never restocks.

if you wanna go full ham on knowing where everyone lives, without a visit, hidden relics such as kindirsh and stopsvalina, or where the legendary king monkey lives?

have you considered giving yourself over to mumblemouth? just combing the desert. you dont even need to tread new sand every time, the rate decreases going through previously explored areas, but still reveals stuff.

shrooms are rng every time; but the colours always corrispond for the rest of the run. e.g jadeshroom gives you itchy skin, the ichy skin develops into waxflab. you now know a jadeshroom will always give you waxflab. just add a note onto a copy of corpus[ generously provided by the mayor in exchange for garbage]

The Precognition trick no longer works.
That was nerfed a while ago.
Unless they unnerfed it.
Or I misunderstood how it was done.

you can still cheese it just not as easy , save a game , try nectar/cooking

not worked? , continue playing and try again after half an hour of playing

you can still guarantee you will get +1 all stats just its not as "hastle free and easy" as it used to be
