Favorite physical mutations/mutation tier list?
What are some of your favorite physical mutations? Also, which mutation ate the most powerful? Has someone made a tier list?

Favorite physical mutations only? I'd say Multiple Arms because you can tear apart enemies in one attack if you focus on axes, Phase to be able to escape from just about any dangerous situation including Sunder Mind, Corrosive Gas Generation for stopping enemies from swarming you or otherwise risk being rapidly melted down plus it'll eat through any obstacle including force walls, and Carapace for a weightless armor that can be the strongest in the entire game.

I sort-of made one for mental mutations, although it's aimed at a specific Esper build and is somewhat outdated. In particular it assumes you're building your character for ranged combat and therefore rates close-range powers a bit low - a "hybrid" mutant who fights close up might get more out of Time Dilation, say, and if you use weapons for your main damage then confusion is more useful.

Cloning Ichor Vendors is the best armor mutation though, I'd rather spend the points elsewhere. Regeneration is my favorite by far, but I don't have very high regard for the others

Gun Rack->Giant Hands->Akimbo->rifles and bows skills.

Nothing like having four laser rifles in the mid game firing every turn.

Horns gives a ton of AV for the head slot, while also giving another source of damage, pretty big one at that, with unlimited strenght scaling, and also procs bleeding on every charge. It can carry a lot of builds. Carapace can pretty much carry you all the way to midgame by making you survive all enemies that don't lob grenades or shoot elemental rays at you. Multiple arms is cool if you wanna spend a bazillion points in dual wielding short swords as well because you'll get all those extra attacks once get the last skill on dual wield without needed to invest in the mutation really. Freezing ray gives a nice burst of damage, but also has utility of slowing down the enemies you can't take down in one shot. I used to REALLY like adrenal control before the changes, because I could tighten carapace before going to sleep anyway, I haven't tried the new one yet. Thematically Stingers are my favourites, but they just don't feel as powerful to me as horns and require a lot of investment, and the fact that their activated abilities (Sting) to force a proc can only penetrate once is kinda lame, but at least it can also proc on charge and lunge. The ones I have taken but really regretted it are corrosive gas and flaming hands, because acid gas can destroy loot, even quest loot or sultan stuff, fire rays can be similary dangerous, if you heat an area too much you may end up melting the floor into lava, or burn the nearby loot, so even if they're powerful, I don't really feel like I wanna use it.

Multiple legs is probably my go-to, over just about anything, tbh. Between the extra carry weight and the movement speed, it provides both excellent quality of life and a massive survivability boost (by dint of being much, much more able to run away from things), particularly early on. It's good stuff.

I'm currently running a build with Corrosive Gas, and I can say that you're incorrect on it melting loot. I've made it to the jungle so far at level 20, and not only does the gas melt goatfolk quickly when swarmed, I've been able to loot all of their drops just fine. The wiki even states that corrosive gas doesn't touch things tagged as items. It'll desecrate statues, destroy walls and doors, and make neutrals hostile if they get touched by it.

The Flame Ray, though? That can definitely destroy items.

This. Multiple leggs is hands down one of the best mutations available.

Huh, maybe it was changed at some point? I definitely had it destroy quest items for me in a past run, after which I never tried it again.

Dunno really, I always go full Unstable Genome so I can have fun. Anything goes.
I really like Freezing Ray, Multiple Legs and Heightened Hearing though (this last one seems very underrated, it's basically wall hack).

Corrosive gas was changed to not destroy loot fairly recently, yeah. Part of the last batch of mutation changes, iirc.

Stinger with paralyze and corrosive gas is really amazing.

How does Quills stack up against Carapace?

I'd love to know too. I've played with quills before, excellent when you're swamped by weak mobs (like ickslugs), but definitely less AV than Carapace.
